Lucky Leo's Amusements — Attraction in Seaside Heights

Traveled all the way from California just to visit this arcade. I have seen it in so many YouTube videos and have read the reviews only to be greatly disappointed. I drove 9 hours from Michigan, where I am staying just to go to this so called “amazing arcade.” I am no arcade expert but I have been to a handful in my life and once I put $50 on my card and began to play, I realized how rigged this place is. I know elaut machines and know how rigged they could be but I didn’t expect an arcade in NJ, where I heard it wasn’t allowed to rig games, actually had them. I was only able to win ONE prize bag with that $50 and it only had the 10k ticket minimum, which would be a really fair price if a cheap plastic toy wasn’t given that value in their prize selection area. While I was there I actually ran into one of my favorite youtubers and was really excited until they told me some unfortunate news. They told me that the arcade wasn’t being fair and was arguing back and forth with him over a prize he had won. In short he had won from prize locker and it had a ticket value of 275k on it and I saw in one of his videos a couple years back that the employees let him take those tickets in exchange for other prizes than the prize itself, which was super cool. But this time, they did not. He told me that they fought with him and he finally got what he should’ve gotten in the first place with no argument. I am extremely disappointed in an arcade going back on their word, especially to someone who has an influence on their business. I wouldn’t be arguing with a YouTuber who has probably spent $500 there that wants to do what they have done before and has posted videos at that arcade that have amassed over 20 million views, probably helping business. All I know is that I am never returning back to this arcade, and I don’t recommend anyone else going here either. I suggest checking out the other arcades on this pier such as Sonny and Ricky’s or Midway. Don’t waste your time and money here, it won’t benefit you in the long run since all they want is to scam their customers. Lucky Leo's continues to be the best arcade on the Seaside Boardwalk! Have been coming here since the 90's and can attest that it's the best.

The first thing I noticed was that they switched from all machines being cash or coin to having a card swipe like Dave & Busters. You can buy a card and load it with $$ at the prize counter or you can purchase one at one of the machines located throughout the floor. We opted to buy one at the machine and there was a $15 minimum. You can continue to reload the cards too, so when we were done we took it with us. You can also use cash, but the card is definitely easier!

They still have a decent selection of claw machines (or as my family refers to them: crane games) but some of them have higher value prizes in them like gift cards or yeti cups. Another new addition is a sign on each claw machine that reads something along the lines of "prizes can be exchanged for another prize in machine" which I believe means if you win the lion stuffed animal but wanted the zebra, you can trade.

So my wife and I went there to play for a while, she was playing the Willy wonka coin machine mark no. 10. The machine tossed a card which is the coveted golden ticket in this game, by my estimate she would have needed to spend about another 20 dollars just to get this card out. We walked away for a few minutes then my went back to see a and the card was gone, from what I saw all the other card were still in the same place even the one that was ahead of this special card. I went to one of the staff about my observation that someone, not necessarily an employee looks like they have a key to the glass door of these arcade machine. Well he went on the defense stating it wasn't him that did and he walked away. I didn't at any time told him it was an employee that did.
