I'm usually not middle-of-the-road here, but once again a review is centered and metered by the wait-staff. I cannot recall our server's name, but she was a delight. Kind and personable, efficient and fast. Which is rare in a beach-side establishment. So instead of the one-star for the food they should get, they get three stars. Mostly because of our server, but partly because this is the Seaside Boardwalk. We should have known better. We didn't know better than to have (nearly the worst of our lives) margarita's at Spicys... (only surpassed in their sadness by the chain CALLED "Margarita's" in TR) so I'm not surprised we made this decision....
And that's where the kind review ends. She was lovely enough to keep this from being a two-star, and also the idea that it's a local landmark. I've also spent more than a few blotto nights and mornings here and while it's a shadow of it's former self, I'll review it keeping in mind the same caveats I do when reviewing the Sawmill. Which is not the Sawmill, but that's another story.
The food, well we should have known. The nachos were passable, whiz, three or four chunks of tomato, wilted shredded lettuce and a grey, pebblish material that did not completely unresemble ground beef. That being said, they weren't horrible. Just sad and too much money for the ** they were.
I'll tackle the clam strips next. Or should I call them "three clams and a pile of fried batter"? Yeah, that's far more fitting. ALTHOUGH... if I were forced (it would have to be at least at knife-point) to eat there again, I would DEFINITELY stick to the fried foods. I'd say your best bet.
Then, I'd like to talk a little about the flip flops I was served that were supposed to be a veggie sandwich. I've seen pieces of white inkjet paper that had more substance, that looked (and probably would have been) more appetizing. It was absolute sh*t. The tiny bit of taste I was able to discern while attempting to chew it wasn't pleasant. Just pretty much one of the worst things I've been served outside of an emergency shelter after a catastrophic tidal wave/earthquake combo that reduced all food supplies to canvas flip-flops with a single strip of roasted red pepperish-substance stacked under the insoles of an old hippies sorel's.
I mean this sandwich S*CKED.
Beer was cold. Mixed drinks overpriced and only sold in the smallest solo cups I've ever seen.
AVOID. I mean it's still better than eating at Chipotle McTGI Houlihans.... nothing worse than chain food... but I'd suggest just drinking and avoiding the food until you're so drunk you won't notice.
Let me finish here by saying if you really do think this food is exemplary, you should for the good of humanity and for your reviews to actually HELP, indicate that you don't have either functioning taste buds or any reasonable concept of what is good food. Preface your reviews for us, because it's rather misleading to call the 'food' here 'great'.
It's a bit misleading to call it 'food' if I'm...
Read moreI had 1 corona and 1 Tito’s shot. It was my last night on vacation in seaside. I only went for 2 nights. I was there & left to go get a T-shirt. When I was there the first time I bought 1 drank and just sat down on the roof top. When I got back about an hour later I was told that I was being trespassed based of his discretion. This guy had no reason to do that other than being on a power trip. I spent money there with my son earlier in the day and at night. I wasn’t causing a disturbance nor was I to “drunk”. I told him I was the legal limit to drive which I was. He was being aggressive with me and loved how I wasn’t allowed to come in because he said so. He said even if you go to the cops and say something to them they’ll still tell you you have to leave. They have no say over who comes in and leaves I do. The cops came over because he called them over. I said to them like why are they doing that. They kept saying they can trespass whoever they want like it’s a regular thing. They were nice and respectful unlike the security guard. The security guard isn’t all that too if I was actually the drunk he claimed and he was aggressive like that he would’ve got pepper sprayed arrested or not I wouldn’t have cared. That guys lucky I was actually sober. Even in the case I was overly intoxicated you do not go about it that way. Drunk people can turn volatile quick so why are you being aggressive. I was not a threat to him or any ones safety. All his little security guard friends who he was trying to impress need more training or to be replaced. There not securing anything besides there egos. No grown man who works at a professional establishment should be getting aggressive and confrontational for no reason. I wasn’t resistant in leaving even though it was unprovoked. He was aggressive in tone hoping it would escalate and I’d do something to get myself in trouble. Do better with who you guys hire it’s...
Read moreI came to Beachcomber Bar expecting a fun night and instead had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in Seaside. My friend and I were constantly being creeped on by multiple men throughout the night. When we tried bringing this to the attention of security, it was completely brushed off like it didn’t matter.
To make matters worse, at the end of the night, a bouncer/security guard (white male, bigger build, small beard, wearing a hat backward) pushed my group into a stairwell that HE directed us to use—only for us to be told afterward that we weren’t even supposed to be in there. While leaving, I saw a boardwalk plush lying in the hallway, picked it up, and was taking it outside when this same guard shoved me and my fiancé out the door, ripped the plush from my hands, flipped us off, and slammed the door in our faces.
I’ve been coming to Seaside for almost 10 years and have never been treated like this. When I tried to address this with the higher-up security, they literally laughed at me and said to “call tomorrow” because they weren’t sure what I “was trying to get out of the situation.” What kind of customer service is that?
If you want to spend a ton of money, feel unsafe all night with zero protection from staff, and then be disrespected and shoved out the door by their own employees, Beachcomber is the place for you. Absolutely unacceptable and...
