Omg! This store is the best! It not only has the high quality supplies you need, but it has tons of fun artsy stuff too- for us lifelong kids! My kids grew up, but I still haven't! This store has hard-to-find brands and tools, and brands of tools! I have known this place was here from a 5 minute visit years ago, but I have been missing out all this time! I could go on forever! Can't express how happy I am with this store. There's even a kit to make your own music box! The whole thing! Super neat! I even got a miniature harmonica for my fiance'! (why, why, why did I do that to myself?!) It's even got a separate entire room for the most important art component- PAPER!!! Even though there was a whole room, it still wasn't enough, and that's the only thing I would add, well there's 3 things to make it perfect: more loose wool roving for wool felting, more cardstock or a crafting paper section for us cardmakers, and lastly, a larger enamel paints section. They were pretty wiped out of their little bottles- but they still had at least one of most of their colors. A set of them would be perfect. So many deals too- the prices can't be beat by anyone anywhere ever! I swear you will be so glad you went. Last but not in the least, I saved a fun tidbit for last; THEY HAVE GRAB/SURPRISE BAGS!!!! I think any store that does this rules!!! Check it out, you'll leave an obnoxiously long review as well- then I won't be the only one feeling silly but...
Read moreNo doubt a place for professionals and people who really care about art, so 5 stars. They deserve to be supported.
Quite honestly, however, Michael's can dwarf them with availability and diversity of supplies every bit as much worthy of consideration as what this store offers. I'd say one of their biggest strengths is their canvas supply area. And if you're into acrylics as I am, there's an aisle for that, however you'll find certain supplies somewhat lacking. Example, lots of Liquitex additive options were not available the last time I visited. No black gesso save for one small jar, to name one. However, at Michaels, lots more options. And often cheaper prices. Heck, even Staples has some nice finds in terms of colors at reasonable-to-bargain prices.
Nevertheless, if you've never been here before, go and check it out. It's worth it. And your viewpoint may very well differ from mine based on your need.
I'll also say they have a quirky vibe that they back up with some offerings you WON'T typically find at a Michael's which may spark your interest and creativity. Example, a drywall screen.
Be prepared to lay down some cash if you want to walk away with the goodies, however. ...
Read moreThis is an awesome little shop that has a wide range of fine art supplies, craft supplies, curio gag items and pen and ink products for dip pens, fountain and technical pens. I was in Seattle for a class at Gage and Blick didn’t have what I needed and I found Blicks online selection and prices to be far better than their brick and mortar options sadly.
I was told about Artists & Craftsman by someone in my figure drawing class and I’m so glad she mentioned them; A&C is an awesome if somewhat hidden gem. Parking is a bit of an issue (its Seattle), I ended up buying something at the Petco on top of them and running down to A&C afterwards.
I was able to grab the Winsor & Newton and Nitram charcoal I needed, as well as a few of my favorite Faber Castell kneaded erasers. They had all my favorite oil and watercolor brands and some of my favorite dip pen (Ziller’s) and fountain pen (Noodler’s) inks. I grabbed a Van Gogh ear eraser at the register and called it a day. The staff was awesome and helpful 👌🏽💜. I plan on stopping by the next time I’m over on the west side of the state because I love Artists...
