spent 2 days down here. walked through Pier 57 very strong fishy smell due to the fish restaurants. super long line for women's bathroom wouldn't even waste your time Make sure you go the bathroom before you go to the restaurant from your hotel room or public restroom and make sure you don't have to go during your visit or you might end up paying your pants only one bathroom in whole building. visited shopping front bought a tank top a t-shirt and an umbrella paid almost $80 for three items a little overpriced even on the clearance rack. was going to go ride the great wheel but the ticket line was so long that it was actually spilling out onto the pier itself even at 3: 30/4pm in the afternoon on a super rainy day. did manage later that night to scooter down from the hotel and take a gander at the construction of the new waterfront Park across the way from Pier 62 got to stand underneath the Seattle aquarium's new edition and watch sharks or a shark and various fish swim among the reef above my head I thought that was amazing got to stand in front of this awesome step type lighting kind of like something out of a movie for a minute kind of felt like I was standing in a Hollywood movie is the way the ambience made it feel Seattle is so pretty at night and so awesome to scooter through at night especially down on the piers at the waterfront the new addition of the steps the park were awesome just sucks if you're scootering cuz you have to park your scooter and either carry it up or you have to go to the elevator and write it up their bike path and scooter path is not complete yet earlier in the day when I was hiking up to the bus stop I did notice a playground that they had installed on this new edition didn't visit it but I looked over and noticed it looked pretty interesting pretty cool lots of people stopping to take pictures You're really elevated to look out across the water from a higher elevation than standing right on the pure itself beautiful architecture and design see how long the beauty of it lasts with the transient population and the college kids that seem to think that they can destroy anything they want there was tons of beer cans laying on the steps looks like from the night before from Friday night when we visited Saturday just people need to have more respect for the hard work that the architects within the Seattle area as well as the contractors put in to...
Read moreThe waterfront is probably my favorite place to go in Seattle--from having lunch at Ivar's to shopping for souvenirs at the various shops to enjoying the wonderful views--especially when the weather is clear. I enjoy the views of the water (Puget Sound), the mountains (the Cascades, including Mt. Rainier, to the east; the Olympics, including Mt Olympus, to the west)), the ferries and other ships (Seattle is a major port with ships coming and going to all points of the globe), and city skyline. I enjoy watching trains: near the cruise ship dock, this is where trains come out or enter the tunnel (underneath downtown). There are BNSF freight trains, Amtrak passengers trains, and Sounder commuter trains, keeping this stretch of track very busy. During the day it's beautiful. At night, the water reflects the city's multitude of lights. There are plenty of things to do if you don't mind spending the money, and there are places that will suck the money right out of you. You can take a ride on one of the Washington State ferries, take a water taxi, a guided boat tour out on the water, dine at one of the restaurants, ride the Big (ferris) Wheel. Pier 69 is where one can catch a ferry to Victoria, British Columbia. However, if you don't want to spend a lot of money, it doesn't cost anything just to stroll around the wharves and...
Read moreReview of the new playground. Came on a MONDAY late afternoon. Too packed with kids of different ages. Mainly older kids. Overheard sooo many parents saying how worried they were for their kids safety because of all the high climbing structures and it being overcrowded. I felt the same way. I didn't feel safe just letting my kids run around. Kids crowded the octopus structure making it unsafe. Tons of big kids and small kids cramped inside. Also kids blocked the slide on top making it soo long for kids to go down and creating bottlenecks in the middle of the structure. They should of spaced out the structures as well too, too close to each other. Could of been designed better. Also where were all the street performers? Thats what made the waterfront! So silent and boring just walking and nothing going on besides businesses. We use to be able to stop and watch performances. Like magic, see big snakes, hear people singing or playing instruments. If the city banned them that was a total waste of Seattle Culture and Seattle Vibes. $80 for 3 hours garage parking across the street was not cool too... (next to the teryiaki spot) didnt even see the prices listed in front of the garage. Only knew when we parked and scanned the qr code. Not about to lug the kids...
