Me and my fiance stayed for a few nights to enjoy downtown Seattle for her Birthday. We had some mixed feelings due to specific interactions and expectations.
Most of the staff made sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. A few times we were made uncomfortable when we wanted to check out the roof view. Me and my fiance just got back from hiking at Mt Rainier and our room wasn't finished being cleaned by thier awesome house keeping staff. So we decided to take a look one floor above us. (We had a room on the 12th floor) As we were getting into the elevator, a man in a sharp suit (accompanied by two other possible hotel guests?) Looked at me and my fiance and gave us a worried look and said "uhh can I help you find something? In a tone that both me and my fiance believed he was questioning if we were hotel guests. We felt that just because we were at a higher end hotel, just because we looked like we just got back from a long day of hiking, (we were wearing compressions, wind breakers and tennis shoes) he felt that we were out of place. This experience both made me and my fiance very uncomfortable because we paid just as much only as everyone else.
The next experience that turned our experience sour is because we got a room on the 12th floor, you could hear every single chair being moved and even every single high heel walking around the bar on the next floor above ours. The walls are paper thin so if the hotel throws any kind of event, you will hear every loud conversation, and every step on your floor. If your looking to get some sleep because you'll need to wake up early, don't even think about getting a room on the 12th floor, no matter what room view you have.
I would've given the hotel a one star. The only reason why I gave this place another star was the valets and the housekeeping staff. They were the only ones who really made us feel like normal people. Never gave us looks like they were unsure if we "fit" with the usual clientele of the hotel. They always greeted us with a smile and always made our stay comfortable
Some said the king sized bedrooms were too small. I have stayed in smaller rooms and it wasn't so bad. The bathroom was awesome, the furnishings, very sheik and modern.
If you want to feel like the entitled upper class for a couple of days, this place might be for you. But for the average traveler such as myself you might want to...
Read moreStayed here with family and friends for a few days before heading out on the cruise. Probably one of the best located hotels in downtown as everything is a quick walk to. Overall good experience and may be in the top 5-10 places to stay when in Seattle, but it would be important to do some research as the photos are heavy on the marketing vs a less than stellar reality.
First things first, the hotel itself is not very ADA friendly so be mindful when booking the hotel as the main entrance to the hotel and to get to the restaurant in the hotel both have steps. In addition some of the main lobby furniture isn't really accommodating and that carries into the accessible rooms.
Other things to notice there is a large stream of people coming to the hotel to access the rooftop bar, and they all share the main elevators. There never tends to be a long wait, but what that does mean is folks that do not stay on your floor can happen to follow you off the elevator, so that's a bit of a yikes for safety.
The rooms, halls, and decor are all clean if a bit dated. The lack of lighting in the room is terrible, unless you are facing an angle where you can get direct sunlight from the windows. The lack of lighting carries into the halls and other common areas. Meant to give off a moody sophisticated vibe but it doesn't live up to it.
Where this hotel shines is it's service and location. From the accommodating valet and luggage team in the front, to the front desk team. Everyone is extremely nice, always smiling, available to answer questions, and provide some great recommendations. We needed something printed off and Aaron at the front desk was not only right on it but emailed us when the documents were ready. A request to freshen up the room was meg with immediate action, and extra towel request, no matter how ridiculous was returned with a smile and was completely carried out.
The restaurant is a whole other issue. Simply put just skip it and save yourself some money and get a better meal elsewhere. Their staff was nice enough but it is clear that there is two different approaches to how the two are operated and the only benefit is that they share a building.
If there was any place where they can take it to the next level is check out. I changed my credit card on check in and I still haven't found where my stay was billed to but maybe that's not a...
Read moreThis is where my husband, daughter and I stayed while scouting for a move here. This hotel is fabulous! The service and attention to detail from this hotel is impeccable. The beds and pillows are great, the rooms are modern in style, the entire hotel appears as luxurious as it really is. The moment you arrive (no matter if you've left and returned several times per day) you're greeted warmly and the opening of your door will not be missed once by the valet and doorman. Once you enter you'll notice and enjoyable scent in the air. When we first checked in I couldn't stop talking about it and then decided to ask the man working there what cologne he was wearing because it was so great I wanted to buy it for my husband. He politely told me that it was not his cologne, but rather a signature scent made only for the Thompson Hotel that they ran through the air system. I asked him to forward up to management that we enjoyed the smell very much and would like to see them sell it as airfreshner or cologne. I hope they offer this one day, it really is that good!! While we were there we mostly ate outside of the hotel, but we did go up to The Nest Bar. It was a bit crowded for us, we weren't able to get comfortable or even find a place to sit as there was someone who had rented out the deck portion of the bar for an event of some sort and the guests from the party were taking over the entire area, inside and out. Drinks were expensive, to be expected from such a luxurious Hotel, the drinks were also very creative... similar to something you might find at a Speakeasy bar. If you're someone without kids and like the nightlife scene, I would recommend The Nest Bar to you whether you are staying at the hotel or not. If luxury is your style, and to be honest it's really not mine but I still enjoyed this experience, when I would definitely encourage you to stay at this hotel. You won't find anything else like it in downtown Seattle. Too, this hotel is 2 short blocks away from Pike Place Market depending on what side of the hotel you're on, you will likely enjoy your view. It was from our room that we realized that Snapchat actually has an office just across the street. As a fan of Snapchat myself it was fun to look in the window and see all the Snapchat themed...
