My wife and I went to Raymour and Flannigan in Seekonk MA to potentially buy new furniture for our home. We met Dan whom we were referred to by a family member. After about an hr of looking at various things we were at the point of leaving because we couldn't make a decision as to what we wanted. As we were leaving the reclining area we happened to come upon a living room set that had a clearance tag on it for a price that caught our attention. It was a sofa love seat recliner and an ottoman. The sofa and love seat were also recliners and had built in speakers. After sitting in them for a bit we decided that it wasn't exactly what we had been thinking but it was nice and the price was exceptional. We decided to purchase it and another leather rocker recliner I had liked also on Clearance. Dan entered everything into their system and did the finance application and quickly gave us the total price and qualifying finance amount. He told us that it only qualified for 12 months at 0% or could take a discount we decided to do the 12 month finance. Went to the sales desk signed the paperwork set up a date for delivery. This all transpired on Sunday before Labor Day. On Thursday 2 days before the scheduled delivery my wife received a phone call from a sales manager at Raymour and Flannigan saying that they could not sell us our order because it was involved in a drop. Out of concern of things being damaged they were not going to be able to sell us the set. He stated they would work with us to get a good deal on something else. First it was disappointing then it became frustrating to receive the information. I understand and would appreciate if the furniture was potentially damaged they didn't want to sell it to us where we would have issues in the future. Then I began to think the leather recliner had nothing electrical and was not part of the set how come that was also canceled. I realized that either they wanted to sell it to someone else for more or they saw that the prices were too low and they didn't want to sell for that. So lying to us was the enough to help is make a decision to buy at another company. Also asking for a deposit when financing was also weird. This store does bait and switch type advertising. Not ethical in the way they do business. My advise stay away when there are this many red flags nothing good can...
Read moreBought a sectional that was delivered 3 days later. Delivery guys manhandled the sofa and there was damage to the corner hand rest as pictured...he offered to "clean" the damaged area when the fabric was clearly torn into. The sectional pieces did not line up together so they had to relocate the connecting plate. Then they had to reattach a foot they knocked off. I refused the sofa and said I wanted a new one. They took it back with them. A manager called me the next day (day 4) and said they would send me a new one in 3 more days. He comped the $150. delivery fee. The new sofa arrived on day 7. It looks fine but it is hard as a rock to sit on...this feels nothing at all like the showroom display sofa. I contacted my salesperson and he said they don't to returns or refunds. He said he would speak to the manager and get back to me the next day. He never did. A few days later I contacted him again. He said "oh, I thought I left you a message. I'm on my way in to the showroom, I'll call you in an hour". 5 hours later he called and said he spoke with the manager and they decided to "escalate my complaint to the senior manager in the morning". I never heard back this time either. I contacted the salesman again and he told me to call the covering manager for help since he was off today. I went to the showroom in person instead and compared the cushions on the display sectional with the ones I received on mine. Night and day difference. I would not have purchased it had I known it would be the most uncomfortable sofa I've ever owned and I'm a senior! I spoke to the covering manager and she said I needed to "give it at least 60 days" to season. She said the "display model has been sat on for over 5 years and is 'butt broken in' and after that amount of time I should love mine". I don't want to wait 5 years to love my sofa. Shame on them. Also I doubt they keep their displays that long due to style, season and design changes. If they do this is another reason not to shop here. Bottom line shoppers, be aware that what you purchase in the showroom is not necessarily what you'll get. Be prepared to have to wait 5 years to love your purchase! By then it will be time to buy something new from a...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE!!! This was our first time at Raymour and Shenanigans and we decided to purchase 2 living room sets. They would both take some time to be delivered but we had no problem with that. Two months later at delivery, we were unhapppy with one of the sets. The furniture did not fit the room as we had envisioned. I alerted the delivery person right away and they assured me that they would take it back at any time. I decided to sit on it for 24 hours to see if it would settle in and it most definitely didn't. Though I considered keeping it and just dealing with it, I ultimately realized I wasn't happy. Afterall who wants to go looking for another set? I promptly reached out right to the store to express that I wasn't looking for a refund, but rather a different set. Todd the manager advised me that we could switch out for another set or if we wanted our money back we would have to pay a 40% restocking fee because it was special ordered. 1. We chose a color option that was available for the furniture, and nowhere were we informed or was it noted on our invoice that it was a special order. 2. When we selected a set to exchange, they refused to negotiate the price with us. Initially we received almost 30% off, but now they offered us nothing because we were ulitmately screwed and would have to buy the set at full price or pay a restocking fee. After much negotiation, lots of calls to Todd and alot of wasted time, we asked them to show us where a 40% restocking fee was on our paperwork or anywhere on the website, (which by the way all of their terms are on the website and not on your purchase and sales agreement) what a joke. They ultimately couldn't show us which is complete fraud and so we agreed to pay what was on their website of a 15% restocking fee and they declined and said the best that they could do would be a 20% off restocking fee. In the end, we felt like we were in between a rock and a hard place and they had us. We decided to just be done with it all. We paid the 20% restocking fee but felt it was necessary to warn all future buyers about their terms at RAYMOUR AND...
