As owners of this business, they should probably have better customer service.
My girlfriend and I love coming to this zoo. We have probably been 10-15 times in the last 2 years. We love seeing all the animals and feeding the goats and llamas. They started changing alot and adding new animals under the new ownership which we thought was good. But after this past time we might not be back.
As we were getting our tickets, there was one girl letting people in but as more customers walk in this other lady walks over to help with ticket sales. The first thing she does when she gets over there is reach way over on the other girl's side of the counter and rakes something off the counter --dirt, dust, food, I don't what it was but she rakes it off right on to my girlfriend standing at the counter.... I kinda looked at her and said something sarcastically like "Are you raking stuff on us over there?"... and she didn't respond. The girl that was helping us kinda laughed but it was more because she could tell I was being sarcastic. This other lady who apparently is the owners wife, didn't even acknowledge that I said something to her or didn't apologize or anything at all. Just ignored me completely. Even the couple that she was helping said something to me about it when we got into the zoo sections. He was in disbelief like we were.
It's one thing to rake something off "accidentally" on to someone while you're cleaning off the counter but to completely ignore that you did it and not apologize even after you get called out on it is a completely different thing. Usually the staff for the most part is very friendly and a few of them recognize us and talk to us when we come in but this lady who is supposedly the new owner's wife was completely disrespectful and didn't acknowledge or apologize for it. If this is how the new ownership treats their customers, whether they've been 15 times or 1 time, we probably...
Read moreSad to leave a bad review! We have had season passes for over 15 years, visited weekly! Grew to love all the animals and the staff! They even let my daughter name some of the animals. You always felt like family here. We visit a lot of animal attractions all over, and this is the only place we ever came to that we never once seen a sick or injured animal. They actually cared about the animals! But then it got sold, we visited the first time since it’s been sold and every member of my family was sad when we left. First get in and they no longer have passes, or even a local discount. So was $100 for us to spend 20 min in there. The only response was, well we have a show at 3. Then as walking though, all the classic animals that have spent most their life there, are gone or look absolutely terrible! Lacey the bird has been a staple, she was always happy, dancing, and talking . Now she’s outside , hiding in a corner and picking her feathers out. Absolutely broke my heart to see her like this! So I decided to message them asking questions about the care of various animals, and was given a reply of , did you watch and of our programs? Seriously, the same reply the front desk gave me. They then tried to say the animals gone have moved onto better areas for them, when I know that’s a lie, I know some have died , and others they must just have wanted. They had some special animals there that would have struggled in new environments, but that wasn’t taken into consideration. It’s just sad. We won’t be back, and can only help for the animals safety that someone steps up and does better! Animals should be #1 , not how much money you can make with shows and feedings. Very...
Read moreAlmost hit the mark, but left my family torn. After we purchased our tickets there was a care taker cleaning an enclosure right at the beginning. It was comforting to see they were receiving maintenance. The animals seemed to be in much too cramped enclosures, with little to no enrichment or hides. If you enjoy Axolotls you can purchase one in the gift shop. Which struck me as odd due to their specific care needs. I understand them being in small shoe box sized Tupperware makes it the easiest for workers to quickly care for. To support better public opinion and show care for the animals life quality. I'd suggest a shallow long tank behind the counter with the available axolotls, water chiller, plants and sand. Also maybe a purchasable book on their care close by. I'm sure this was all started with the intention of conservation and education! As soon as you walk in there was a heavy urine odor. With a proper ventilation system to cycle indoor/outdoor air and more attention to animal life quality this would be such an easy place to suggest. If the owner happens to see this. Consider investing more of the profits back into the animals/building! The girls we spoke to were very sweet. Both large white birds looked incredibly stressed, to the point I'm still thinking of the one in a corner cage today. Maybe let it hang out with a worker, they're such social creatures and would benefit greatly.
Overall it isn't the worst nor best Zoo we've been to. With a bit more effort it could be possibly the best around. It's obvious the...
