I’d like to start by saying we love the Greenville location but decided on Spartanburg because it’s centered around smaller children. We had my daughter’s second birthday here on Saturday, we paid $300 for the party itself which included 30 people. Luckily we didn’t have 30 people because the party was thrown in an already small room that had random stuff piled up on the counters and in the corners. It looked like we were using their storage room. There was one bench and maybe 10 chairs for adults and big kids to sit and no tables for them. People had to hold their plates or eat standing. Online it also says they will do it all. Decorating- there were no decorations. At all. Not even table clothes, the table was wrapped in brown paper.-themed party- also a no. We had random blue plates, the kids had a small easel plate. And solo cups. That’s all. I also paid extra for crafting. Well crafting is apparently printed coloring pages with old paint, stamps and crayons. It’s also a far stretch to say it was hosted by them as it definitely was not. The museum part itself was fantastic. But we would not have another party here and would not recommend. I’ve been looking at reviews online from others parties and seeing where they did have decorations and the room was not full of junk. I feel like my child’s party was thrown together and we did not get our...
Read moreLet me start this review by saying the vast majority of the people who work here are fantastic and have been more than kind to my family and I. But unfortunately, 1 bad apple can ruin the bunch. It is almost time for us to renew our membership and we came in today to have our son play, and to ask a few questions. We’ve been members for quite some time and were curious on some of the pricing, but apparently that was too much to ask as this person made me and my family feel incredibly unwelcome. When I asked why she was treating us like we didn’t belong here, she said she’s sorry I felt that way and that maybe we shouldn’t ask questions so aggressively? Huh?? in the most condescending way possible. Well thankfully the Greenville location answered the same questions with no issues, but she single handedly ruined our thought to renew. Who wants to have their kids play somewhere where they don’t feel welcomed? That being said, the 4 stars are for all the staff that have been wonderful and the facilities provided, and the star missing belongs to “Erin”, who I hope no family has to deal with...
Read moreMy 1.5 year old son and I came here on a Sunday for a birthday party and playtime. We have a membership to the Children's Museum of the Upstate, but we'd only ever been to the museum in downtown Greenville. We like the museum in downtown Greenville, but we LOVE this museum.
The Children's Museum of the Upstate- Spartanburg was designed for children under the age of 5. They have two designated baby spaces (under 18 months). They have a huge kitchen space, a treehouse with slides, tons of books, blocks, an enormous train table, and a water table that could accommodate babies and toddlers alike. We had such a good time!
The birthday party was fine. The museum provided activities that were excellent for an older age group, but my son did not seem to enjoy. We felt very rushed, especially about the cake and pizza part, because the room was only available for one hour. The birthday kid didn't even have a chance to open his presents! But most of the frustration was likely due to the age of the guests and the unpredictability of what all the toddlers wanted and needed at...
