UPDATE 6/20/24: To the new owners. Please tear this mall down. Look it’s abundantly clear that this place is just dead. I’m tired of people saying “If they put in new shops they’ll be so much busier” No business wants to open in this mall. We just lost a discount furniture store! Chick-fil-A is gone! There are a small handful of stores left that anyone actually cares about and Costco is one of them even though it’s not attached to the mall. We don’t need a mall, we need a shopping pavilion. Add new stores that people actually want to shop at like a Trader Joe’s. Bring in restaurants like Cheddar’s that people will frequent because they’re affordable. There is a lot of space here that can be used in a different way that would bring in so much business. I just got back from Texas and we found this cool and unique area where they had restaurants, a science center and a pickle ball/restaurant location that had activities that were mostly outside. It was really neat to see them utilize that space in that way and it was really busy. Again that’s just a random example. We don’t need to copy exactly what others have done but it definitely makes you wonder what all could be done with the space that this mall is sitting on that hardly anyone goes to.
UPDATE 2/13/23: When I look at Westgate Mall I think of the old man from Monty Python and the Holy Grail being put on the dead trolly cart yelling "I'm not dead!" just hanging on for dear life. Look it up if you haven't seen it. So we just got word that the Bed Bath & Beyond at this mall will be closing down soon and from the looks of it J.C. Penney isn't far behind. Honestly I don't know what all this place has left that people would want to come here for. I swung by today because I went to the Chick-Fil-A since it's less busy than the Drive-Thru one less than a mile away and Chick-Fil-A was the only place that seemed to have people, the rest of this mall is a graveyard. We need to take a long hard look at what to do with this place as it's become a massive eyesore. The area surrounding this mall is still generating traffic, mainly because of Costco. But the mall itself is mostly just avoided. It's incredibly dated and unclean. There are more empty shops than there are with actual stores in them and the ones that do have stores aren't exactly the ones that bring in business. The entrance to the mall and parking lot are a complete mess and have more pot holes than they have available stores. Advice? Either do a dramatic redesign, but let's be real we know we're beyond saving this place now, or tear it down and build something else here like a shopping center like Magnolia Park or the Shops at Greenridge on Woodruff Rd in Greenville. Again you have things around this mall that drive in business like Costco and even the movie theater. You've got plenty of property to do something with this place. Malls themselves are dying out and this isn't Haywood Mall which kept updating and finding new stores to bring in business, this mall gave up on that a long time ago. If we did a shopping center I feel it could draw in more businesses compared to just having them be put in a dead shopping mall where they know it's not likely to succeed.
UPDATE 9/27/22: Is this place still open???? If anything it’s just gotten worse. Just go to Haywood Mall in Greenville.
Westgate Mall is a joke. There’s hardly any stores worth going to. I once met someone in Tennessee who visited Spartanburg and they said they visited Westgate Mall and they apologized for it being our mall because it was so pitiful. The look and feel screams 1990s, there’s not much it offers and there are so many vacant spaces. Hardly anyone even goes to this mall, they usually will go out of their way to go to Haywood Mall in Greenville. Either knock this mall down or do a...
Read moreI felt a need to express my concerns regarding the unprofessional behavior of the “new” mall manager. My husband and I walked into the mall after eating at Red Bowl inside the mall. During our meal we had a conversation about how unsafe my granddaughters feel when shopping at the mall. When we walked out into food court, it was deserted, as if no one at all was in the mall and in our conversation, I was telling my husband this is the reason our granddaughters don’t feel safe here. When there are people here there’s a lot of running around chasing each other and wrestling and very loud unsupervised kind of behavior. At that moment, a lady walked in front and whirled around on her heel and said excuse me, I am the new mall manager and I plan to make this a top notch mall. In a very loud boisterous voice and in my face she said this is gonna be the best mall around. I’m bringing in new stores. I was stunned at how unprofessional this lady was and to be listening in on our conversation and so rudely interrupting us. This mall will never thrive under her management. It was very obvious that she had no professional skills at all. I was left, amazed at how rude this manager was. Two weeks later there was a shooting in this mall!!! So Miss unprofessional, Teresa Murray, has done nothing to improve the atmosphere here.
It is respectfully requested that maybe the “new” manager is lacking in very much needed manager training, etc. Or just common sense training to not interrupt a customers conversation with...
Read moreWe took my 16 year old stepson to Headquarters several times to get his hair cut. On 11-17-18 we took him there to get a haircut and the barbor thats usually there must have been off. This barbershop takes walk in's, so we ask if he could get a hair cut. All he wanted was a fade on the sides.
Now, keep in mind we drove from Hendersonville NC to this place to get his hair cut. The barber that was there had advised that it would be an hour before he could get to him. We went to get some food and came back in an hour. Three hours later, after every other customer came and went, the barber needed to take a smole break before getting to us. We went out into the closing mall area to see that he, the barber, had gone shopping and left us there after leaving us waiting for hours.
If he had not had the time, or didnt want to do it, he could have said so and it would have saved us some time.
We will never come here again. We came down here at 4:30 and left at 9:17.... no hair cut. So inconsiderate.
The barbor was a slim black male with a messy ponytail, in bad need of a work of art himself. When feeling wronged, i peered over the shop... The shop was filthy, with hair all out into the mall area, and unsanitary looking work stations. Maybe its for the best, but the customer...
