Visited Third Ave Chocolate Shop today with my 2 year old and infant to get ice cream for my toddler as a treat. Inside, there is no line to queue up in but we were the only other customer in there besides the person that was being helped, so it didn't seem like it would be a problem. My son was also repeating "chocolate ice cream!" excitedly and we were navigating the tight store with a double stroller, so we were pretty hard to miss.
Once the first customer was finished, however, they skipped right over us and helped someone who had come in while we waited. Annoying, but I was willing to chalk that up to a mistake. Then the next opportunity to be helped arrived and they skipped us AGAIN in favor of another person who had arrived. At that time, I said aloud "we have been waiting longer than everyone here and have not been helped", to which neither employee even looked up. I know I was loud enough to be heard because one of the customers they helped before us looked at me awkwardly. At that time, had they offered any sort of apology or even acknowledgement, perhaps we would have stayed but they opted for the zero customer service route. We left and went to Hoffmans.
If you aren't going to have a line, it seems to me you are taking on the responsibility of keeping track of your customers by some method. If you can't do that effectively, expect people to be upset and maybe...
Read moreStopped in at the Manasquan location looking for a sweet treat on vacation. The miserable lady working behind the counter was completely unfriendly and acted like it was too much trouble to even greet a customer let alone wait on them. It was as if my sale was too much trouble for her! She had no knowledge of her own products and the whole time I was there I felt like a huge inconvenience. The fudge was not fresh and taken out of five packages that looked like they had been sitting there for months. Absolutely no taste to the fudge or the fruit candies. I threw it out after a few tries. I was looking forward to a Jersey Shore treat but was horribly disappointed. Do not waste your time going here. Bad attitude from the staff and the products are a poor excuse for the Jersey shore fudge and candy that I grew up enjoying. Hopefully the Spring Lake...
Read moreIn mid April 2021 we were so excited to discover this shop for the first time. On a beautiful morning I walked by this quaint shop to see a handwritten sign that read, " Matt made tarte cherry turtles" and I've never had anything so delicious. We made 3 more trips back, since they would stay so fresh for days. It isn't easy to find very fresh red lace licorice, so we were traveling back and forth for both. Before the Summer crowds we arrived one last time to find our favorites and anything we bought previously to be gone. Sadly, it was about 1/3 of the selection. I'm leaving my 5 star rating up here, because they were truly the highlight of our Spring months. We will be returning in hopes to find our favorites again. Otherwise we won't be making special trips, but it was good...
