My other half wanted to bring me this location as we walked from downtown on a rather hot day, as he wanted to go later to a game, so here are some things you might find helpful, if you are a 'newbie' just like I was:
you can surely walk to here from downtown but it was a good 20 minutes walk passing near the baseball stadium, lots of government buildings, small parks etc which I would be scared to walk alone during the day in USA - in Europe I would not be scared due to the 'funny looking people not having guns': that is a reality! returning from this location by train would mean to the train from the station near the hotel (even locals do not know where it is) so simply descend from near the car park on S 18th street which is off Market street passing in front of Union Station hotel Union station hotel used to be a station, looks nice from outside and as we got inside we realised the potential it could have been better revealed if it was renovated in London for example (where they done some amazing renovations of equally old buildings or former train stations - I guess is down to money the investors can make, right?) The guy at the entrance advices us, speaking to us over the shoulder, how we can reach, via S 18th Street, the Wheel/restaurants/etc located at the back of the hotel - they can be accessed only via here at this moment in time, although I saw some doors on S 20th street, however they were locked the area behind the hotel is centred around a massive pond with koi carp fish you can feed by purchasing over price food in different locations. There is also an aquarium (located towards the back of the hotel - we thought it was the entrance for the train station!!!), also Landry restaurant where we had a great meal, The Soda fountain where I was looked on with disrespect by the funny big mammas at the entrance paying more attention to their wigs and nails and several other places
Altogether is a nice place, learn from our mistakes and be as relaxed as you can when you are abused by some people with mental issues who do not know how to look at the bigger picture of the world due to lack of education probably, as is...
Read moreThis is definitely the worst hotel in St.Louis. The. rooms are very small and very expensive. I was also racially profile multiple time as a I was trying to attend the bar in the lobby. Last night my and a friend went to the bar to enjoy a drink. The doorman questioned us multiple times as if we didn't belong there. He almost even acted like he was wasn't going to let us in the entrance. When we finally got to the bar to order our drink a gentleman served us. As we were. waiting for our drink and African American young bar tender with wild hair and a terrible attitude approached us. She targeted my friend and began to belittle asking her is she even 21 because of her size. Even though we explained to her that a gentleman was already getting our drinks and had already checked on us. She told us that it didn't matter what he did, even though he was our bartender and proceed to check our ID'S again. After figuring out our ages she proceed to try and belittle us even more. This is a form of age discrimination and profiling. We watched her repeatedly not card the white residents who were staying their it was absolutely...
Read moreI really had a bad experience on my visit. First of all, if there is an event such as a wedding going on it’s difficult to get into the building. On our stay, we couldn’t enter through the main entrance because of a wedding that was happening at the main entrance. No one was at the entrance to direct where we should actually enter the building to get to the main counter. The first elevator we went up only had a St Louis police officer at the top to tell us we had to go back down and walk back outside and go into the elevator on the other side of the entrance. This appeared to be an entry used only by employees, it was full of all of the luggage racks that they would normally use to carry guests luggage up to their rooms. It was completely inconvenient. To keep the rest of my frustrations about the stay short, the entire fourth floor reeked of marijuana in a non-smoking hotel, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and the smoke alarm started going off at four a.m. Customer service was still happy to explain why I’m expected to still pay the $ $35 self parking fee rather than to discuss how I felt like I was staying in a...
