Think twice before reserving a picnic shelter at this park - I paid $150 to reserve a covered picnic area for a H.S. Grad party, only to arrive with another party using the space. Apparently, the park staff DO NOT affix "Reserved" signs at the space. The squatters reluctantly moved after explaining to them that I PAID for it and showed them the confirmation email - this was entirely preventable. Additionally, there's a charcoal grill situated just 12 feet from the playground, which was in use - flames were a a foot high and it was an extremely windy day - I was fearful for the safety of the children (flying sparks, ashes). There are so many better options in the area if you're looking to reserve a...
Read moreThe good: This park has a nice view and adequate benches, picnic tables, gazebos, and barbecue areas. The grass was soft and well maintained; it has several large, shady, and cool-looking old trees. There is a neat little amphitheater/stage that I'm sure would be great for music nights.
The bad: The playground is pretty old, wooden, and a wicked splinter hazard. It has missing and broken equipment (notably swings that aren't the toddler kind). The bathroom was extremely dirty and malodorous.
All in all, it's not as crowded as other parks in the city, but it definitely needs some...

There's a walking path, picnic tables, and restrooms(they were not open yet-I'm sure not until memorial Day weekend). The playground seemed pretty new so I'm guessing the city is still working on the fence overlooking the river. Just keep in mind that there're some large openings and most kids can shimmy thru the bars-my kids tried. The fence is far from the playground though and can be avoided. We met lots of...
