It’s listed on the national registry of historic places and the community takes a lot of pride in it. It’s been beautifully restored and operates for pedestrians only. There’s no more cars crossing it or anything with the newer much larger bridge meant for traffic. From May 15th to October 15th the lift bridge opens every 30 mins for boats. It doesn’t open if there aren’t any. But it’s a beautiful area and right in the middle of the historic old town area along the river.

Read moreI'm a big fan of what they've done here. The bridge is very walkable and is exclusively for bikes and pedestrians now. Once you're on the Wisconsin side, the trail keeps going. We went in about a half a mile before we turned back but they're still seem to be plenty of room to go. I'm not sure entirely how far it goes before you need to use a car, but I would definitely consider coming back. It seems like the respective state governments have invested in building out some sort of trail because I saw a lot of hardcore looking...
