MINE in Mystic — Attraction in Stonington

I have mixed feelings on MINE as it isn't suited for what I look for. -- This doesn't mean it's not the place for you. I collect antiques and this was one of those locations I wanted to happen upon when I was in the area.

Here are little notes for the buyer... • If you're looking to rehab something, create folk art, find an old antique bottle or tool -- this is the place for you. • If you like metaphysical items such as crystals, home run. • The customer service is fantastic. The owners are kind. • If you're looking for that random item for a craft, such as findings, old antique photography, scrabble tiles, this is it. You won't find these items at Joann's.

Not so much for the 'antiquer' that is accustomed to an antique center with multiple vendors. This is more so a location for the crafter, the creative soul, and the one that seeks solace in crystals.

I have been shopping with them for years and I've never been disappointed. The owners are very kind and always remember the little details of our conversations, even if it's been a little while since my last visit. The new location is well on its way to capturing the fully funky vibes of their last store. Selection and prices are always a little mind blowing, there have been so many times when I needed a very specific item (like a door knob that matches my lane furniture or the final rare peices of a depression glass set, a 200 year old peice of furniture or a very old cookbook) and they've read my mind and had it waiting there without me saying a word. I love this store! It is a bit of everything. I brought my granddaughter there to look at the stones and minerals.she loved it. We had recently been to the Shops at dinosaur place. She whispered to me look Grandma this cost $32.00 at the Dinosaur place and it’s only $12.99 here. I quietly picked it up and purchased it. It’s hard to know what to buy a teen. On her birth day I will give it to her with this note. It’s not the cost but the thought...the memory of a time spent together enjoying life. We made a wonderful memory that day not always easy to do with a teenager....
