Me and my mother went to Pure Day Spa yesterday hoping for a nice relaxing massage experience. We had gotten the couples massage, $90 a piece. Truthfully I would not recommend this business for massages what so ever. The experience was terrible.
First we were ushered upstairs quite quickly, and only asked once ādo you want us to focus anywhereā. Neither me or my mom were asked if we had any problem areas, anywhere we would like them to avoid, if we had ever gotten massages before, etc. I couldnāt even tell you the masseuses names! There was no effort on the masseuses behalf to gather background information- which in my experience getting massages is standard practice to ensure comfort and avoid any injuries.
During the massage there was absolutely no communication. No checking in, no gauging how it was going, no asking- nothing. I truly have never experienced anything like it. In prior experiences I have always had masseuses ask questions, touch base throughout the massage to make sure things felt okay, Iāve even had masseuses ask me questions about knots theyāve encountered and offer suggestions to me. This experience was nothing like that.
The massage itself was rough and felt painful, like the masseuse was unaware of what she was doing or simply applying pressure where it shouldnāt be. It was quite uncomfortable and tense, and made it extremely difficult to relax. Not only that, but once I was turned onto my back the masseuse rubbed lotion on my face? I have NEVER experienced that in my life. As someone with very sensitive skin I wish they would have asked permission, or gave even a inkling of a warning that they would be massaging my face with lotion (truly still shocked that this was apart of the experience).
Once the massages were over me and my mom were left in the room completely lathered in lotion and oil, and were not offered towels, paper towels, damp towels- anything- to wipe ourselves down with or dry off with. Again, something I have received at every other spa I have been to. It truly was very odd.
My mom and I left very uncomfortable and unsatisfied. I think this business should work with their masseuses on communication skills and how exactly massages are done. I donāt think this experience would have even been worth $30. Iāve paid a fraction of the cost at other spas for massages and have been treated much better. I would suggest to anyone looking to relax to look for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a great massage very relaxing but my facial felt rushed. I donāt know but I pick on peopleās energy and it was like she was busy. There was no conversation about my face recommendations etc. Just slap lotion on couple massages and done. Sorry Iāve had facials before and this was just not it.m for me. For the amount of money they charge nothing should be rushed. Also, I had a pedicure but I donāt want to call it that because my cuticles were not done on the website all pedicures have callus removal cuticle maintenance etc. Thatās not what was done for me. It was just massage and nail polish not used to that I can do that myself. There was water flowing with nothing in it no soothing scented soaps nothing. My nails were cut so short Iām in pain. I was not even asked what I was comfortable with just cut them right off and continued to cut. Normally a seasoned person would ask would you like to cut your toe nails not assume or because thatās the way you do it. I had gel they donāt do that on feet as she stated their nail polish last 30 days idk. I sat for well over one hour for her to get the gel off my toe nails while she continuously scraped with a emery board not good. Staff seemed ok place was nice and clean and the smells were awesome. Thanks. Hi Mary, you failing to see what I am saying I get youāve been in business for 21 years catering to one population you have to be diverse. I am a business woman too locally in my field for over 25 years. We have to go with times and cater to a diverse clientele. Also, what can you tell me about not doing my cuticles or soaking my feet in soap. I mean thatās what is presented on your website. I am a light sleeper and unless you were whispering Iām up. Also, what about my toe nails you did not even have the courtesy to ask how short or if I even wanted them cut. I donāt want to go back and forth with this. Anyway itās fine Iām glad I had the experience. As a business owner it is our duty to fix things so that person comes back and brings prospective clients with them but I guess thatās not the case here. Thatās not good customer service skills. You want your customer to feel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI booked myself a mini spa day for my birthday and what would have been my first pedicure, facial, and massage since having my daughter a year and a half ago. I booked the appointment 2 weeks beforehand for the specific date, and confirmed the timeline of all 3 services with the receptionist. I was very much looking forward to being pampered!
I arrived well ahead of time so I wouldn't feel rushed or stressed, and while the waiting room was very bright and clean, the receptionist was not as friendly or welcoming as I would expect for a day spa. She basically just abruptly asked for my name to check me in and that was about it.
My 60-minute full body massage with Amy was first, followed by the facial which was also with Amy. I've never had a facial immediately following a massage and it was truly SO relaxing! Amy was very good and this review doesn't reflect that part of my experience - I would definitely go back to Amy!
My pedicure was going to be last, but the nail tech said she was double booked or something and couldn't accommodate me. I was honestly in such a relaxed state of mind that I just said "okay" to rescheduling the pedicure and went to pay for the services I did receive.
Again I was expecting more of a friendly customer service experience, or at the very least an apology from the receptionist - I got more of an apology from Amy and the nail tech than from anyone potentially responsible for the scheduling mixup. The receptionist didn't even acknowledge the mixup, didn't ask how my massage/facial was, didn't really say ANYTHING except how much I owed. The whole interaction felt very businesslike and just not what I would except from a place you go to spend money to pamper yourself.
Needless to say, I had worn sandals expecting to show off my pedicure at my birthday lunch, but instead I had to explain my sad, unpainted toes and my overall disappointment with what was a much anticipated day. Unfortunately the pampering started and stopped in the massage room. Considering they charge a 30% fee on no shows and cancellations, it would have been nice to receive the same discount for a future service seeing as I didn't get a pedicure because of...
