Disclaimer: I’m going to rate my experience keeping in mind that this is a 3-star rated hotel. As such, I am keeping my expectations at that standard and will highlight the pros and cons as fairly as possible. I have previously stayed at the Sole Miami hotel in December 2024, right next door, which is rated as 4-star. ||Pros:|- I booked a Partial Ocean view room which was perfect. There is a very generous view of the ocean and I even caught the sunset. The balcony is quite large and comes with 2 sturdy lounge chairs and a small table. To compare, the Sole hotel had zero seating on the balcony (and it was quite small). This balcony also was accessible from the bedroom AND living room (although the sliding door was stuck and hard to open and close).|- The room is spacious and bigger than expected. Fully functional kitchen with all the appliances you need to cook. An actual dining area for eating (at the Sole, only ate at a bar area off the kitchen). The bathroom had double vanity, a bidet, huge jet bathtub and separate shower. Oh and for the girls, loads of storage for all your products. The bedroom has a massive walk-in closet (so nice!) and the bed was extremely comfortable.|- The room is QUIET. There isn’t any loud AC unit or anything that was disturbing your sleep.|- There is a washer and dryer machine which is a treat. Most 3-star hotels don’t offer in-unit laundry.|- The gym is well equipped. Very good cable machine, tons of dumbbells selections, 2 benches and a few treadmills. I used it a few times and there was enough room/equipment for everyone comfortably.|- I arrived early, around a couple hours prior to check-in and my room was already ready for me, so it was really convenient to check-in and enjoy the beach on my travel day.|- The location is unbeatable. So close to everything one needs including shopping, groceries, drugstore etc. The beach is maintained nicely, the staff at the beach were very friendly. I always had 2 chairs available regardless of what time I went to the beach, there was never a shortage of towels or chairs (note: You do have to pay extra for umbrellas).|- The staff is very accommodating - when I needed anything, I called at the front desk and was immediately helped and taken care of.|- The most important: the elevators ARE QUICK! My room was on the 24th floor (same at Sole) and the most I waited when calling the elevators was maybe 1 minute. Honestly, it usually took less than 30 seconds. Whereas at Sole, it took sometimes as much as 5 minutes (not exaggerating).|- This hotel offers a very convenient app you can download on your phone which allows you to have a digital key (this saved me when I forgot my physical card) and allows for selecting your room before checking in! That is VERY cool, because you can choose from different floors and facing directions. ||Cons:|- The hotel is definitely outdated. The room and amenities was clean but I won’t lie, there is certainly a need to repair and renovate the property. Some areas, for example, near the bar and pool area, part of the ceiling was falling apart. Inside the room, there was rust, the kitchen cabinets weren’t in the best shape, there was peeling, the bathroom tiles were a little cracked. Again, NOTHING major, however, this is a honest review. So just be prepared to see some major wear and tear.|- The staff is nice but I’ve encountered a couple of housekeeping employees who didn’t speak a single word of English. I would expect them to know basic english so that was a little challenging communication-wise.||As you can see, the pros vastly outweigh the cons hands-down. I can’t give it a 5 star as I was underwhelmed with the condition of the hotel. BUT (and this is a big but), all in all, the hotel was beyond satisfactory. For someone who needs a clean, functional room with a stunning view, this fits the bill and is reasonably priced as well. I will certainly be coming back...

2nd Visit: Here is my updated review. Again, overall, family had a wonderful vacation. Mainly due to location. Many pros and cons. Pros: Inviting Lobby, easy check in. 2 Bedroom suite while needing some updates, had everything: Full Kitchen, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2.5 baths, dining table, amazing patio with amazing views and breezes , ocean and sunrise views from every room. This year however, the dishwasher was out of order (out of order sign on it) which was disappointng. Beds were comfortable Newer and clean appliances Hotel location right on beach, with decent gym and pool area Chairs were usually available in pool area Also walking distance to many great restaurants and markets for food/supplies Close to Oleta River State Park which was a fun multi-hour excursion (we went Kayaking) Beach was clean, water was great! Pool bar was convenient and friendly bar tenders Can have bar food / snacks at bar during the day. Starbucks also on site Beach staff was very helpful , setting up chairs and umbrellas. Not as friendly as last year, a couple of them were cranky. We chose no housekeeping and cleaned our own room, housekeeping gave us plenty of towels and supplies as needed.

Cons: (Suggestions for improvement... hoping hotel reads this) Elevators were better thank goodness but did still have some issues Suite Room although nice overall was very expensive and is showing its age. Some outlets need to be replaced (barely in wall, too loose to hold computer or phone charger plugs couldn't use them), tile/caulking/paint was not "too bad" but needs refresh. Only 2 chairs and no umbrellas included in resort fee, but for 2 BR suite rooms and for what we paid to have the larger family come, 4 chairs should be included and maybe 1 umbrella. Not having an umbrella is rarely an option with the strong Florida sun. Pool water was a bit murky and not as enticing as some of the nearby hotels we can get a glimpse of from the balcony One Hot Tub was out of order all week. The other had no working jets so was just a warm bath. My last review a year ago, the outside bathroom by pool was disgusting. Thankfully it was updated and pretty clean. Ceilings still need to be redone as they were clearly randomly covered up with panel board, but toilets, urinals, sinks, tile, all looked newly refreshed and clean

We did have one major issue in that there was a fire alarm that went off and we had no communications. Fire trucks came. I went in the hallway from 12th floor and saw people ruching down the stairs (Elevators were rightfully turned off). I tried calling the front desk a few times during our stay and they never answered. During the alarm, they also did not answer. We did not know what to do. I tried the welcome text I got, and they did answer it was a false alarm, but this was 30 minutes later. They need to drill fire alarms in this hotel and how to notify customers on high floors what tom do (if anything).

I hope they continue to address the maintenance / aging hotel issues so I can keep this place on my vacation list. Hotel staff did offer to come and check our issues (including our phone) on our last day but we said no as we were...

If I could rate this a zero, I would. I am a long time Diamond member with Hilton. Have stayed exclusively at Hilton properties since 2009 and I can say without hesitation, this is the worst Hilton property I have ever stayed at. That includes basic Hampton properties that offer very little services or amenities.

To start, we checked in online to one room and gave a proposed time for arrival. We arrived 4 minutes after the proposed time and during check in we were switched to a different room and slapped with a rate change on something I booked two months prior. The person that checked us in was the Customer Service Manager, he never greeted us, never looked up from his computer, never explained the property, and didn’t offer us water or the warm cookie! I assume because of our appearance he didn’t like us, switched our room, and didn’t offer what all Double Tree properties offer. I get it, I work in a service industry and it is hard to find good people to work. Just give some semblance of you caring for your customer.

My family was so excited for this trip to Miami Beach for Spring Break and the room that was advertised online. Once we got to our room, that quickly faded. The room was disgustingly dirty, the door lock was damaged which barely held the door closed, some linens were missing along with bathroom amenities. The door lock was very concerning, someone could easily push it in as it was barely hanging on. The bathrooms were barely cleaned, so much so that we went to the local Walgreens for cleaning supplies. When we asked the front desk for a different room, they said they could not accommodate that request. The kitchen area in room was disgusting, floor dirty, refrigerator looked as it hadn’t been cleaned in months and several leftover items from previous guest.

The pool area is only open from dusk until dawn. I cannot remember a hotel where you cannot swim after dark. Now, that wouldn’t be an issue, but they have nothing else to do at this hotel for families. What are young kids going to do in a disgusting room for a few hours after dark? There is limited food on property after 5 PM, although what was available was pretty good.

I get it, this is an old property but the most disappointing was the general lack of any service from the hotel staff. We were there 4 days and two staff said hello to us. That is unacceptable. The only staff worth mentioning at this property are the two women working the bar and the beach staff, that is it.

What made this experience even worse is our young son left his childhood blanket in the room. We tried for hours to contact the hotel, and nobody would answer. Tried for hours, finally got through and left a message with someone at the front desk. Nobody returned our call for 3 days, so we contacted Hilton Corporate to open a complaint. It has now been 4 days since we opened the complaint without any response, period. Worst. Experience. Ever.

Bottom line, if you want a prime location on the beach but a horrible guest experience, this is your place. If you want something better for the amount of money you will spend here, go...
