NOT KID FRIENDLY! I repeat, this place is not kid friendly. I took my family here to see a movie. My under age daughters saw one movie while my wife and I saw another. When my daughters' movie ended, they waited for us in the lobby. While my kids were waiting, the theater staff told the detail officers to remove my children for "Loitering". Even though my daughters informed the officers that they were waiting for their parents and that we were in a different auditorium, they escorted them outside anyway and wouldn't let them back inside. Seeing that this theater is attached to a mall and that it is Black Friday, something really bad could have happened to them. Not like it would have mattered, not like it was any of their children. Nobody even attempted to tell us that they threw my kids out of the theater and the staff did not have to go to the police on my 2 little girls as if they were hardened criminals. What scum bags the theater staff and cop were. I tried to call the manager to complain but she was clueless. She didn't know the cops' names assigned to the detail at her theater. She couldn't even tell me if they were BSO or Sunrise PD. She told me they were probably thrown out because of the 9:30 curfew even though this happened at 8. Go the extra 5 miles to the theater off I75 and Sheridan, I never had an issue there and they don't even need cops there.
The best thing Regal Sawgrass should do is re-train staff to find parents of children before resorting to law enforcement involvement and find out which officers worked their detail tonight and request from the agency providing those officers to bar them from any detail opportunities at this theater in the future.
*Update 11/30/18:
It is absolutely appaling that Regal Cinemas has not only failed to contact me with regard to this matter after I gave them my contact information in a survey the same night this happened, but I see here that the owner has responded to other people under 24 hours and has yet to even acknowledge my review. They must know that the culture of their employees and management staff must be so deplorable that it cannot be fixed, so why waste the time responding. I hope this theater gets shut down and a reputable business...
Read moreI've been to this theater several times since it's opening. I agree with everyone who says that the bathrooms could be cleaner; perhaps it's not quite s bad as the reviewers think (some people may have just gone in right after someone else made a mess). The theaters are not bad; an occasional streak on the movie screens which can be distracting. On one occasion the curtain at the top of the screen ripped and hung down, blocking the view. It took the theater staff several minutes to figure out how to rip the fabric down (eventually a tall ladder was brought in). Good sound quality in the theaters, but occasionally way too loud; 'Fast and Furious 6' was played with deafening volume. When watching a quieter movie at an adjoining theater we could hear the explosions through the walls. Parking is a challenge, but I always find spaces in the parking garage behind the theater (second floor always has spaces available, but the elevator is frequently out of service). Saw 'Skyfall' on the IMAX screen; not a real IMAX. If you want real IMAX you need to head over to the Museum of Science and Discovery in Ft. Lauderdale. Update - July 2015. Several trips to this theater during the past year. Bathrooms still just okay (very small, but there are 5 of them; you may have to wait a while on line when the movie lets out). Only a few problems over the past year; some lighting issues, a couple projector problems, all corrected when someone went out to notify the staff. Apparently everything's computerized; no one really checks to see if the projector is functioning properly or if the lights dimmed when the feature film started. They also want you to know that they check the security of the theaters - in a most annoying way. Staff member with clipboard and bright red wand walks through the theater about three times during the show to make sure the exits are secure. The flashlight wand (mini light-saber - like he's going to wave an airplane into the terminal) is very distracting while trying to watch the move. No more screen problems, and being attached to a huge mall (second largest in Florida after the one in Aventura) is a big plus. Upgrading review to four out...
Read moreI dont think I've ever written a review. I also did not think I would write one about a movie theater. This location started off bad with the service. I waited patiently in line while I watch 4 people work 2 registers. I thought at first, ok, maybe some training happening, but after waiting about 5 minutes and I was second in line and two other people asking me if I was in line because they were also confused with all the people behind the counter but only two working the registers, and yes the other two workers were just standing there talking to the other employees working the register. I then saw what looked to be a manger swing though and tell the others to get on a register. The employee who helped me asked if I already ordered, I said "no, I would like to get sour patch kids" then the employee just looked a me and said "have you ordered". So again I said no and I would like sour patch kids. The employee then pointed behind me to a rack and said they are there. And I had already checked the rack while waiting. There was only watermelon patch candy and not the original. I told him I wanted original and again got a blank stare. So after that I went to use the bathroom and it was a disaster area. Wet toilet paper and wet floors on both toilets. Like a cherry bomb went off. I actually stopped to tell somone it was just out of control. I am now sitting in the theater(imax) and it was not cleaned after the last show. Dirty napkins in the cup holder on my reserved seat and sticky floors. Place is a dump. But its captain marvel and I've been waiting all day to see it. Honestly I'm pretty easy going, but this is a pretty bad experience. Worse I've seen at a movie theater. Liemax and a small screen. An employee just came in 8 minutes before the movie and starts sweeping I get up so he can clean the row I am in and he asks the guy in front of me "what time the movie start" the guy replied "at 1030" and the employee said "that's crazy". I'm watching an episode of ...
