TL;DR: Located adjacent to a picturesque main street area. Sub-optimal parking, comfy reclining assigned seating.
My companions and I visited this theater today for the first time to see Avatar 2. There’s a small, free parking lot on the side of the theater. As we were running late, and there were available spaces in this lot, I didn’t explore any other parking options, but there are several other lots in the area, that I’m guessing are municipal (paid) parking.
Upon entering the theater you see the usual concession stand and the ticket taker station. Our theater, five, was upstairs, so we took the escalator and walked down a short hallway. I’d paid a $2 fee to order our popcorn/drink ahead of time and have them delivered to our seats. We were running late and ran into the employee who was returning to the concession area with our food. He handed me the bag and we entered the theater.
The seats were comfortable and the sound system was okay, not great, but also not bad. The projection was a bit dark and I feel that we didn’t get the full visual experience of the movie. I’ve read that this is sometimes caused by theaters showing both 2D and 3D movies and the theaters not bothering to adjust the projectors, which leaves 2D movies looking darker.
If you’re going to catch a movie at this theater, make a day of it. There’s lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance, so either enjoy a local lunch beforehand or walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner...
Read moreOk so here is my admittedly TL:DR review. As a long time Huntington resident amc shore 8 theater is typically my theater of choice, and the new recliners have been some really nice improvements. That being said, I recently was dissatisfied with the viewing experience for the latest Star Wars movie, "SOLO". The theater (#4?) had WAY too much ambient lighting from the wall sconces, ruining all the dark scenes, which in that particular film is about 90%. You pay good $$$ for the professional definition/quality and to experience the movie to its true intended artform. My 8yr old plasma TV at home would have provided a much better picture. All the characters on screen were grayed out so poorly, you couldn't make out any facial expressions! I had brought up the issue twice to staff to which they concluded that those particular lights had to stay on for safety reasons. Maybe there's some new regulations I'm unaware of, but I ended up walking out of the theater for a refunded voucher (not cash), it was just that bad. If there is some new rule on keeping the lights on during movies, I doubt they'll have the revenue to keep them on for much longer :/ -Would just like to add that the staff is very courteous and it is a clean well maintained theater. I just hope that something is done or I fear this business won't last long with the competition of home theaters...
Read moreA movie theater with only 20 parking spots, and that's just the beginning. I went there for the first time to see the Beauty and the Beast premiere and our show was at 7pm. By the time it let out at 9:30, the concession stand was already closed and the theater seemed dead. On a PREMIERE night. Most other theaters have shows going on until midnight. Unreal. You can choose your seats, but they're quite uncomfortable. They're small recliners without any tray tables. Plus, it isn't stadium seating so if even one person stands up your view is blocked. I didn't get food, but the drinks are from Coca Cola Freestyle machines, which I personally think taste terrible. Plus, there are only 2 machines, and no machines for the concession stand attendants to use, so the lines are quite long. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the staff was pleasant. Basically, I'd never go back and if I were you, I'd avoid this place. It isn't...
