Stayed one night because of a snowstorm had no clue I was walking into an American oasis. I was just searching for a decent hotel because of cold snowy winter night time driving conditions. I was transformed into a classic hotel experience I will never forget. Warm, inviting, lit up for 🎄 Christmas. Friendly front desk Becca treated me above and beyond before I got in the door. Discovered the Teddy Roosevelt's Restaurant with a view of the snow covered Adirondack mountain peaks and Lake George. The mountains and Lake George are also destinations itself. Put all that together, truly, this Holiday Inn offered an outstanding value at the price. Dinner charged to the room from TR's Restaurant was delicious. At first I didn't realize I was in Teddy 's restaurant or see the view from the dining room until morning. Then it sunk in, I was at a special hotel in a location that was named for both King George and President Roosevelt. I checked in went to my room and by the time I unpacked and relaxed, a nice young lady delivered me a delicious meal from Teddy Roosevelt's Restaurant on a silver covered plate on a large tray directly to my room. I ate it on the couch privately in front of the TV and went to sleep short after a long day. The meal was delicious and the service made me feel special. I had a balcony with fresh air and a view of Lake George and the pool. For an affordable cost. If this was summer time, this place would be buzzing with the pool and lake there. I would absolutely come back in the summer to swim and get a first floor balcony where you can walk to the pool lake or town right out your balcony. It would be a winter or Christmas paradise this resort, since there is high elevation and lots of chance of snow to give you that special winter vacation you want. The rooms are quality despite the property being classic. The facility and the room are in great condition and well kept by a team that is very experienced and professionally behaved. The only thing about it you might notice is it has a bath tub and not one of those chic standing showers of new hotels is dated. If they upgrade that their room would be 5 stars not 4. The rest of the resort 5 stars, 6 stars if I could cheat and add more I'm telling you, I have circumnavigated the East Coast and this is a top 3 value as an overall value location the Lake George Holiday Inn, has a special thing going on. Location is outstanding. Gigantic snow covered Adirondack mountain peaks, Lake George can make them into a mirror off the water. Fit for King George, T.R. and I Chairman Emeritus Sir Augustine. The town is safe and quiet but has a lot of nice places to eat. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would gladly go back if I wanted to vacation in Lake George or in any hotel in America just to get away and relax for a good price, this is one of the places I would go to. I hear there are only 6 or 7 other holiday inn resorts like this on Planet Earth, so there's value here in the amenities. Extra kudos for the balcony, allowing me to open the window and get some fresh air. Almost never get to open the window at hotels and I hate that, was so glad to open the window even in the winter for some fresh air especially after room service has to clean up after the last guest and you can still smell the products, having a balcony clears all that you get at any hotel out and you can breathe nice! Mountain fresh air was so clean and nice by the lake up there unlike the city. I would stay longer but a blizzard was coming and I have to go work South. I am only a Chairman, but I stayed at a standard of President Teddy Roosevelt last night. It was special.. Thanks to Becca, the bartender, the omelette chef, and the two waitresses from T.R.'s who served me. Merry Christmas! Thanks for taking such good care of me. I hope T.R. restaurant location lasts another 100 years for this place's honor, that's how classy it is. God bless your location and the people working there thank you! 🙏 Hope to return one day :) Chairman Emeritus "Augustine"

We were just there in August in 2025. This review is about a month later. First off the hotel itself was great, easy access, and had a nice view of the lake. The staff was great. I really liked that there was 2 people manning the font desk almost all the time, and when we needed something like extra towels, they were brought to our room quickly and very courteously. Finally they had a nice local woman who was at the welcome desk who knew the area really well and suggested a few non tourist restaurants to visit the next town over. So, why only a 3 star review. What left a sour taste in my mouth was that when we checked in, we had to pay the full amount of the bill, which was fine, but we were also charged a 17% surcharge for "incidentals" which would be returned in 5 to 7 days. That seemed like a lot, and was never mentioned anywhere until after were on site and checking in. I have included a picture of the side of the console that has it. And for contrast, the second picture is the view of the lake from the hotel. I hope that this helps others make a decision on where to stay in Lake George.

If you are coming to Lake George and you are looking for a place to stay, this is the place! I am the type of person that takes days of research before booking a hotel. There were so many recommendations of places to stay for our vacation up here. But even the places that were recommended by many had some reviews about rooms that smelled like mold or poor housekeeping and hair in bathrooms etc. I am so happy we booked this hotel. As everyone else says in their reviews there is so much to do right on the property. There is an indoor and outdoor pool. Basketball courts, little mini golf, huge chess board, small arcade area, activities for the kids all day like making tye dye shirts and things you'd do at a resort. Yesterday they had a manager's reception in the lobby with All kinds of free snacks and free alcohol. The hotel is walking distance from the start of the strip. So you are close enough to all the excitement without having rowdy people walking past your hotel at 2 AM yelling. And the view is absolutely gorgeous. If you can, book a room with a balcony. You won't be sorry!

I used to come to this hotel as a kid, and decided to bring some friends up here on our roadtrip. We really enjoyed having a sleepover-style stay in the bunk bed suite, early morning dips in the heated pool, and our meals at TR’s. The view of the lake from this hotel is amazing, and we loved the outdoor seating. The bathroom was a little run down and lacked a fan, which was a bit of a struggle with more than one person staying in the room, but it wasn’t a major issue for us.

My big concern is an incident that occurred with the night shift desk attendant on Oct 8. We were having a great time until they soured it with a really unkind attitude and unwarranted hostility.

In the evening, we called down to see if laundry machines were available. We were met with attitude immediately - She was first going back and forth on whether it was even offered, and then insisted that laundry is only available to guests (we called using the in-room phone)… Very confusing interaction but we brushed it off.

Then, I had to go to the desk to get quarters for the machines. I waited as this individual was in the middle of a shift change with another employee. The other employee looks up and stops their conversation, asking how she can help. I ask if I can either charge some coins for laundry to my room or exchange my $20 cash for coins. The night shift worker interrupted the other coworker to say “we don’t do that kind of thing here”, as though my question was ridiculous. It was so snippy that the other employee that was about to leave physically jumped.

The problem is, the only coin machine (in the arcade) didn’t take $20’s, and their ATM didn’t allow me to take out less than $20. So I returned, apologizing and asking what we could do, since I needed to break my bill somehow. She got really irritable and rolled her eyes at me and essentially talked to me like a kid, saying “I’ll give you a $10 roll, BUT THATS IT” (not a lot considering we had 3 people and a wash and dry is $4). I was really confused as to where the hostility came from, as the hotel was virtually empty and by that point shift change was over.

It was late and I didn’t want to deal with confrontation, so I left it at that. Well, the dryers didn’t function as intended, so the one person who did do laundry left the hotel in the morning with dripping wet clothes. I wish we had waited and hadn’t bothered with the laundry!

Overall, most of the staff was amazing and we enjoyed our room. However, the lack of functional amenities and randomly hostile behavior from that employee really turned us off, and I’m not sure that I will be returning again. I don’t think we did anything at all to warrant that behavior, and it really ruined our fun on the last night. I guess I just don’t understand, why go into hospitality if you can’t...

first off...was a last minute trip..off season reserved a room more so on price than accomidation....was an accessable room.... the amx portal thru ihg really could use better descriptions and rate info...... anyway got a call cupple days before....they needed the accomidating room... when i told them of my booking...20th aniversery... they not only upgaded me to the suite i kinda really wanted...but also was greeted to a bottle of champane and a card...A GREAT BIG THANK YOU.... the property over all was very clean and well maintained....actually ran into one of the employees touching up the rails where the luggage carts bump... greeted at the door very friendly staff ...even had cookies at the ready... cant beat that... the room was a suite....the only down to that ....from the front....you have to traverse thru just about the whole hotel to get to it.....but ... once there.... the room and view.....we had the 3rd floor ...were well worth it.... not sure if its really designed quite for the cold or not....and given the overall season it was....the room really had a hard time comming to a comfortable temp....and was on the dry side.... but the king bed had to be one of the most comfortable nites sleep i ever got....even tho there were a bunch of kids....being kids playing outside.....with the doors closed ....you did not hear them...the only thing i would change about the room.... bath towels..... you think with more of us plus size adults in upper quality properties like this... they would have larger bath sheets ....just an observation... the resturant ..lounge attached was good.... breakfast .....they REALLY need a new toaster.....cant really enjoy a great omlette without a cupple pieces of toast....like i said earlier...this is off season ...and im guessin something like this gets replaced once a year.... its november...weather not always in our favor....nite time was kinda hit or miss for the outdoor firepits ...cold and rain ...would have really loved to have hung out .....checked out the indoor pool....did not use it ... would have liked to try the hot tub....again our schedule and weather just not on our side this trip.... back to the lounge.... really cozy...mostly locals ....its off season... shows how the community really calls these places home....gatherings there....also shows in this case really could be a little bigger....maybe next reno....seems more people would rather have the lounge space than the resturant space..the birthday party...semper fi.... really had to squeeze.... was really happy to see how they came together to make it all happen.... again a good reason to come back again .... this place and its people are rite up there...
