Stopped in tonight for dinner during Americade. Yes, it was a little busy, but Americade happens the same week year after year. I asked if the prime rib was available before I ordered it and I was told it absolutely was. When it came out, the wrong two sides were with the rib. I was told that it looked like someone else got my dinner and they got mine. After that, my server said it would be a few minutes as a new piece of prime rib had to be cut. My wife’s dinner was served. When a new prime rib dinner arrived I was told that the vegetable of the day was changed and table staff was not notified. Had I known that there were changes to the menu, I likely would have made a completely different choice. To avoid further delay I accepted the vegetable that was substituted. The prime rib was anything but medium rare as ordered. It was well done instead. That’s not how prime rib is done and CERTAINLY not how I ordered it. The server took it back. A different and slightly less done piece arrived. It wasn’t medium rare either, but I said I’d give it a try. Not only far from medium rare, but cold. The potatoes were cold too. The only hot food on the plate was the substituted vegetable, which had no flavor and seemed to have been dumped from a can. Our server, Brandi, was struggling to make up for incompetent kitchen staff, but she was extremely responsive and eager to help. I simply tried one bite of dinner and gave up. My wife’s dinner was anything but great, but she was really hungry and tried to eat her poorly prepared meal. She felt awkward eating while the pub’s every attempt at making my dinner just got worse and worse results. She barely ate any of her meal, and did NOT want the leftovers boxed up to take with us. Brandi sent the manager (Ben) over. He apologized. I politely and throughly explained the poor attempts by the kitchen staff to make this resemble a prime rib dinner. Ben was aware that my dinner wasn’t eaten at all and my wife’s dinner was barely eaten. He offered us dessert and drinks to make up for the horrible experience. We don’t drink, and we couldn’t eat dessert because we hadn’t even come close to having dinner. My prime rib was removed from the bill and my wife’s dinner was fully represented on the bill. The only thing removed from the bill was my dinner, which was completely untouched. While I hadn’t suggested it, clearly removing my wife’s dinner from the bill would have been an appropriate gesture, as there was no other way to make up for the incompetence of kitchen staff, which now cost us almost an hour of our lives and left us hungry. I paid the bill and tipped Brandi around 25% of what the bill would have been without any deductions. I rarely send food back. This was the worst prime rib I’ve ever seen, and possibly the worst restaurant experience...
Read moreI've been here once before and it was pretty good. This time around was ok. But...I will give them a break because I assume the problems were due more to inexperienced staff and the new Covid rules. I'm sure they just started up again so they will need to iron out the kinks. I hope so anyway. We sat a bit and waited before anyone came to the table. We ordered our food to be told they were out of it. Then they had it. Then they were out again. She kept putting our order in wrong and by the time we actually ordered it was our 3rd and 4th choices. There were 4 of us and they seemed to be out of everything we wanted. We decided against even bothering ordering apps. It took a while to get our drinks and we were sitting ten feet from the bar. When they came, one order was wrong and one was forgotten. We weren't even sure at this point what we were even getting for dinner!! Lol Waiters and waitresses passed us continually being we were sitting by the patio door. Most dropped a piece of silverware or food every time they passed us. Change even came rolling out of the register! It took a while for our food to come out but it was good. Our waitress was adorable, sweet and very apologetic. She kept saying she felt bad and wanted to give us a free dessert but we declined. We really didn't have time to sit there anymore. We needed to get back on the road. I really just think they need time to acclimate and train the new staff. I hope it happens soon. I will say, it was...
Read moreI had a dinner here on a Friday night and had a very good experience.
I ordered the smoked prime rib (available in 12 and 16oz) and a flight of beer.
The steak comes with two sides - as you can see from my pictures, I indulged and got fries and onion rings. It also comes with a side of jus and sour cream. I chose to have it served “pub style” with mushrooms and caramelized onions. I believe these options to be the best incarnation of the dish 😁. You’ll see that the dish was plated and presented well. It was delicious and, as the name implies, it had a pleasant, unobtrusive, smokey flavor.
As for the beer, I chose the bear baked ale Bobcat Pilsner Mexican lager Saratoga lager
My favorite was the Bobcat Pilsner by far. Clean and subtlety sweet. My second was the Mexican lager, as it was tart with lime.
The atmosphere was very nice with rustic decor as you would expect for a place in the mountains. I was seated near the bar and the place was packed that night, loud and boisterous. For a more peaceful setting, try their extensive outdoor seating, perhaps near the fire pit.
I should mention that all the beer is brewed in house. Outside, you can see that they even grow hops. The plants crawl up trellises in front of a window where you can see the fermentation vessels.
The service was very nice and attentive. Don’t hesitate to drop by and hang with friends over...
