Iavarone Brothers (Lake Success Shopping Center) — Attraction in Town of North Hempstead

Went here for the first time based on all the rave reviews and had ordered the veggie lasagna and some buffalo wings. I only ordered a little of each to give it a try first and I wasn’t particularly blown away by the food, standard at best. It’s also cold food so you have to reheat it at home. The buffalo wings seemed overly salty. My daughter was so hungry that she ate it cold and didn’t even wait for me to reheat it. They didn’t give me any side of blue cheese with it so I had to ask for it but the young guy working the counter was very nice to give me some. Wish I had gotten his name because he had the right attitude. I had come earlier in the day and bought some rugelach from the bakery and it was pretty good. My main issue was the original woman (with the short buzzed haircut under her hat) who took my order was a little obnoxious in my opinion. Is she over-worked or underpaid, I don’t know. But clearly doesn’t seem like she enjoys her job. I live in CT so not used to rude customer service. I had taken two tickets by accident and she seemed a little annoyed having to explain to me that I need to put the extra ticket in the basket. Kinda embarrassing being condescendingly spoken to like that especially in front of my daughter. With that said, it totally put me off wanting to come back here again. I’ve been coming to this place for years and so far I had been lucky with almost all the stuff I got from them. Last week I went to get my usual pasta and meatballs, chicken Parmesan and peppers and sausage. That had ran out of peppers and sausage so I told my husband to pick something else : he picked the grilled chicken with grilled vegetables (which didn’t look very appealing to me) and I had to pick Orecchiette Sausage and Broccoli rabe. We decided and regretted to try those to new dishes. The Orecchiette was just disgusting! it had overwhelming bitter taste all over the over cooked pasta not enough with that it was swimming in oil and to summarize was thrown in the garbage. The same happened to the grilled chicken with veggies. The chicken quality was just yuck! The eggplant and zucchini were in no way edible.... $25+ straight in the garbage. I normally do my catering from a different store but wanted a specific item that iavarone had so instead of going to 2 different caterers I chose to go to iavarone in new Hyde park. Next time I’ll go back to my favorite place. The service was great, but…. I ordered a large tray of chicken Francese, a large tray of gluten free pasta with broccoli & sun-dried tomatoes, a small tray of truffle Mac & cheese & small tray of Caesar salad. Everything appeared to be packed securely but when I got home I found fluids from the chicken & gluten pasta trays all over the box. It spilled on my kitchen floor and counter. Aw well, cleaned it all up and moved on. Put all of the trays in the oven to heat up and again when we took the trays out, knowing it spilled easily, was very careful but they still leaked all over the floor. And to add to the dilemma, they didn’t even include serving spoons. Next time… back to my old faithful caterer which is definitely...
