As a local Travelers Rest resident I do admire this lovely park but it is of little use to us except for occasionally attending the overpriced weekly farmers market and a few events and concerts. It still baffles us that this local park excludes all dogs (although I see several offenders of this hard-held rule at every event at the park) and/ or does not provide a dog park or area where locals can take their dogs. We understand the logic but a park should be a place to be enjoyed by ALL residents, not just those without dogs. TR is such a dog-friendly city, it seems absurd that dogs are welcomed at the local restaurants, on the Swamp Rabbit Trail and whilst dining outside at various establishments in TR but we cannot take our dog to the local park! I think this needs to be a strong re-consideration as our city grows, expands and becomes a larger destination for families and wecomes new visitors. This is really an opportunity lost for everyone. Read moreTrail Blazer Park is the home of the Travelers Rest Farmer's Market which is open Saturday mornings from 8:30 to just after noon. This is the best Farmer's market I've been to in the Carolinas with a heavy mix of produce, ready made dishes and bakeries with a few craft vendors mixed in. They have the most "organic" vendors that I've seen. Most markets are heavily weighted with crafts so it's great to have the focus on organic foods. They always have live music and parking is in abundance with lots of both ends of the venue. We were surprised at just how many vendors are there and we typically go every week. They are now having a mid-week Farmer's market every Wednesday from about 5 pm to 7:30 pm with the focus on food items. Travelers Rest has done an amazing job putting on the best Farmer's market...
Read moreThe Travelers Rest Farmer's Market is definitely worth visiting every Saturday from 8AM-12PM. The variety of items from the various vendors will amaze everyone. Homemade soaps and lotions, jewelry, pottery. Homemade foods include breads, cheeses, pies and pastries. I highly recommend the meat vendors that offer fresh seafood, lamb, pork, and beef. Seasonal vegetables and fruits are available as well as free range eggs that are far better than store bought eggs. They Also offer fresh juices and extra virgin olive oil. Also available are food trucks with places to sit and eat while listening to a local musician or musicians. They even have an area for the kids with different activities every weekend. Plenty of parking spaces available and modern bathroom...
