TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM PICKUP CREW AND MANAGER FOLLOW-UP! My father passed away; he had 10 pieces of very nice solid wood antique furniture and 1 super sturdy large metal office desk. They came to get it and the driver immediately complained it was at my gate instead of in the shoulder of the road(2 feet away.) He then refused to take them because I covered them in a tarp so the dew and weather wouldn't get to it and some odorous house ants climbed on a dresser. He claimed they were termites and the furniture was infested. I showed him they were ants and showed him inside the dressers and desks which were perfectly clean. My father took great care of them. I brushed the tiny, harmless ants off the top of the only piece of furniture that had them, but he refused and left. I then called the manager of south center who facetiously agreed to send them back and said they should have taken them. Obviously patronizing me as he never took my name or information I told him they were worth a good amount of money and I just didn't want to deal with reselling it. I was overly patient and polite despite the unprofessionalism's... Obviously they never returned as promised.... I had the pieces appraised for the value of the estate for probate purposes and they were all between 800 and 1600 dollars a piece. They lost out on reselling what would have been upwards of 12,000 dollars because their driver was too lazy to get it and their manager was too unprofessional to be bothered. I ended up just putting them on the road because I don't like to barter with people. Good job Habitat for Humanity... You guys failed in helping your cause that day. I had more valuable items but they're being donated to charities that are more...
Read moreThis place isn't what it used to be.$ 1000 for a donated used dresser!!! That's criminal. In the past Habitat had decent prices on donated used items. However not anymore. They want to charge more than things are worth new for people that don't have the money to buy new. I browsed most of the store today and they also have a bunch of random things, for example a non generic automotive car hose in the package new that they wanted $120 for. I'm not sure who is ever going to go there and happen to need that specific hose and say "I'll buy this with no warranty for half or more of what it is new". On top of that, they have now started asking for tips on top of these enormous prices.
Two stars because if you browse hard enough digging through bins you might find some small parts you need for an okay price, but the time/money savings trade off is no longer worth it.
I get it that people want to get things out of their house without a hassle, but the bottom line is you should donate them to a place where you are actually helping people that want to help other people! And this company has started to be greedy. It's not just an issue at this habitat location. I've found local thrift shops are a much...

I love what Habitat for Humanity stands for, and I’ve even volunteered for them as a college student- but I was highly disappointed with my experience donating furniture.
I had a pickup scheduled for 9/28 and my pickup timeframe was from 3-5pm. I had 3 confirmation emails stating that a pick up driver would call me when they were on the way to the agreed upon location (my apartment’s carport). I planned my day around this pick up, had my furniture cleaned and transported to the carport from the third floor.
I waited but received no calls from the pick up driver. When I called the store, I was hung up on. When I called back, I was told that a pick up driver knocked on my door repeatedly but no one answered. I said this made no sense because the address I left was a carport that was attached to 8 apartments but I did not leave my apartment number. The store clerk said nothing.
I don’t mind if there was some technical issue, but it’s bad business to not communicate and then blame the customer for the store’s mistake. Please don’t waste your time trying to donate...
