Another guest summed this place up better than I can: It’s a cross between a youth-hostel and a normal low-budget hotel room. Maybe if my wife and I were in our late teens or early twenties, and had never stayed in a hotel before, we wouldn’t know any better and this place would have been fine. For a similar price, we would have been much more satisfied in another nearby hotel. I chose this place because it was newer construction (so less “lived in”), but obviously I made a mistake.
Let’s start off at the worst part of this place: The flooring. Cheap, thin, vinyl type flooring (no carpet on top of foam padding). So, no buffer or sound dampener whatsoever. I’m sure it’s much more cost effective and easier to clean (than foam padding and carpet) for them, but my wife and I were woken up every single night, multiple times, and we are not light sleepers. The first night, the guest in the room above us was constantly sliding (sounded like grinding) in and out from the desk on the chair, roughly every 2 to 15 minutes. Then, mix in what sounded like a drawer sliding open and being slammed shut every once in a while. I was convinced it may be a managers office above us, because there are zero drawers in these hotel rooms. However, the next day, the staff confirmed it’s a normal room above us, so we have no idea what the noise actually was or what this person was doing all night. Really odd. Add in the fact that the person was a heal-walker, so every step was a solid thud above our heads, followed up by a patter from the ball and toes.
Other than the following interaction, the staff was great: I spoke with the front desk the next morning and they stated the person above us had already moved out, very early that morning. However, we were still hearing foot steps, just not as loud. I asked if someone else had already moved in, or if the person was actually still there. At first, the staff said that “HE” (the next guest) had not yet arrived. A few moments later, it was “THEY” haven’t checked in yet. This was followed up with “SHE” has checked in, but hasn’t been in the room recently. I mentioned the obvious contradictory statements, but no explanation was offered.
So that day someone else had moved in. No chair grinding and drawer slamming type noises, but we could obviously still obviously hear every foot step, although this person was more of a normal walker (no thunderous heal). The following night there was yet another change of guests. It was strange, because it seemed like there were way too many people only staying one night in this hotel (maybe they were leaving to stay at another hotel?), which I wish we could have done but the room was booked for a week.
Next, obviously no drawers, so your bag and miscellaneous items just sit on a table or bench type area. The room size was smaller than normal, but that didn’t bother me, other than I wish it had more area to place our items. Additionally, the clothes hanger area is roughly 12 inches long, with 6 hangers? The only other place to hang clothes are six hook / nobs on the wall.
Next on the list, only one place to semi-properly hang towels, so they were still wet the next day. We shower twice a day, and each used a different towel in the morning and at night (rotation of 4 towels), but the towels were still wet the next time. They have signs up to reuse towels by leaving them on the hook / knob, but if that’s what the hotel prefers from guests, how about a couple of full towel-length racks so they can properly air out?
The weirdly branded hand wash, shampoo and conditioner squeeze bottles (hanging on the wall) was acceptable. Unfinished ceiling in the bathroom, with toilet paper around the fire sprinkler, was a little odd as well.
So, this place really is a cross between a youth-hostel (inexpensive place for young, single travelers, constantly coming and going, not really extended stays) and a normal low-budget hotel room. Maybe a luxurious and expensive hostel (not hotel), with separate rooms, is an accurate description? Obviously, we won't be...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars , I would. I am a Vlogger from Az and came to Seattle to document my wonderful time in Seattle. Everything about the city was beautiful but my stay was AWFUL. the lady who checked me in named Lupe was rude , had the worst attitude EVER ! She was not accommodating and had a condescending tone whenever I asked her anything. I get to the room and it’s filled with DUST, sent my allergies into overdrive. The bedding was disgusting and so were the walls. I called to let them know the tv did not work and they advised me to unplug it and try troubleshooting steps instead of having maintenance come. My husband actually got shocked from following the troubleshooting directions given by the front desk. Lupe should not be working in customer service. I will be documenting all of this in my upcoming blog , and will come back to the reviews to post the horrible experience.
UPDATE: So they responded and want to act like they had no clue of any of the issues I was having. I contacted your rude front desk staff on multiple occasions and they were to lazy to help or do anything. Don’t assume I didn’t reach out for assistance, because I definitely did. Like I said , it was AWFUL and disgusting , and my vlog shows it all :) no accommodations were made , and for it to be a brand new hotel that’s pathetic that it’s in such bad shape already. I see why it is...
Read moreTru in Tukwila is a fairly new hotel and is only blocks away from all your favorite restaurants and stores. It's located behind the main strip (Southcenter Parkway) but it is also set on a highly trafficked street (Andover West) and we heard a LOT of traffic throughout the night. The accommodations are very basic, the economy label of the Hilton brand. It met our expectations for my husband, son and I to make a quick (and cheap) trip to our hometown to finally get to see parents after covid vaccinations. The staff was fantastic! Every call for items from housekeeping was answered in minutes and every time we came downstairs or entered the hotel we were greeted very welcomingly and always told to let them know if there was anything we needed. We were at the tail end of Phase 2 for Washington state and so a simple breakfast was served in a bag, ordered each time the day before. Coffee, tea and cocoa were available all day/night to be made by the host at the front desk. A nice selection of snacks available to purchase if needed. I LOVED the soaps, lotions and shampoos in the room. They smelled SO good! I usually steer clear as they tend to be horrible for my hair and skin, but these were amazing. Overall a decent stay, the traffic at night and somewhat simple, light bedding and basic bed and accommodations kept it from...
