I have to say, there is certainly a reason why this location has an almost perfect 5-star rating and that is absolutely because of the people who work here; this experience was way more than buying a mattress for us.
To give you a backstory, my husband and I are an interracial couple and, throughout our furniture buying experience, we have felt as though many of the stores that we have walked into have racially profiled. Not only have stores not offered to help, many of them have barely even acknowledged that we had entered the building. I wish I could tell you the number of times we have been neglected service in favor of an all-white couple but there are honestly too many to count. So many times, after leaving stores my husband has turned to me and said, “I guess my money doesn’t have the same value here.”
Let me just tell you – this was NOT the case at Mattress Firm. We were greeted immediately upon entry by Hunter, who showed us nothing but absolute respect the entire time we were there. He looked each of us in the eye when we spoke and did not favor conversation with one person over the other, both of us were heard and respected the ENTIRE time. (This is something that is also important to me as a woman.) I am telling you, this kind soul took us from mattress to mattress, really assessed our needs and listened to what we were looking for and found us the most perfect product. We came in intending only to buy a mattress but ended up buying an adjustable base and two pillows because, obviously Hunter is an amazing salesperson, but he actually took into consideration everything we had said and found products that are going to completely change the way we sleep. Additionally, Hunter did everything in his power to get us the absolute best price possible!
We truly felt seen and valued during this experience. Like I said before, this ended up being about much more than buying a mattress for us… this was a genuine, human interaction. This was being seen and valued as people with no sort of prejudices or preconceived notions, and you just can’t put a price tag on that.

It has yet to be delivered but I wanted to share that despite the outcome of the mattress over the next few weeks, I am very grateful to have had Sonny's expertise while helping us sift through the hundreds of technologies. Coming from a bed that is over a decade old, he completely changed my standards for what I expect a mattress to be. I found Sonny to be very knowledgable about the products and eager to find a fit for myself and my partner, without making us feel like we were pressured into buying anything. Granted, no one else was in the store with us at the time so that was extremely helpful to have absolutely undivided attention. Although, the impression I got from Sonny was that he is someone that can make anyone feel heard and attended to, regardless of the amount of people in the store.

Read moreJust purchased mattress on dec.22 salesperson was very nice Kristi . Base came defective did not work I declined it & they took it back. Called the store employee said other product would be delivered Friday. Called Thursday to check status of order another salesperson answered tukwila location next to urgent care. And said they did not see an order they would call me back right away , hours passed by nothing .Got off work early and ask to speak to a manager no manager in that store they send me to another location. Drove there , system did not work had no answer when it was going to be delivered . 30 min later they called that it will get delivered tomorrow fingers cross it does and frame works. At this point it’s frustrating because they took my mattress, left me with new one which is still wrapped in plastic not using until base arrives we have it standing. My husband and I have been sleeping in the couch for 3 days already very uncomfortable. Communication and costumer service should be better we spent a lot on this bed...
