While the food may not be as authentic as straight down home Mexican food, and not as incredibly high class in terms of flavors as Cosme in NY or Topolobampo in Chicago, (tiny portions up there by the way) it's straight delicious for one such as myself. Let's start first off with service: I was greeted with a smile upon entrance and promptly given the requwlest of seating, between the bar and the resteraunt proper. (It was gloomy and showery so the outdoor seating was closed) However she said "Enjoy your meal!" In a pleasant way, I was not informed who would be my waiter, nor anything else. Just seated, an "Enjoy!" And wandered off back to the front. Not sure if that's just how it is, but it's not cool. However, my waiter Juan sold me on the service staff. Jovial, quick to address my needs, and definitely upbeat. Even asked the apparently rare question of, "would you like your appetizers first, or with the rest of your meal?" So extra props for you sir. Food: I ordered the chimisliders (beef) and the steak enchilada, and the fried ice cream. (They were out of the chocolate enchilada much to my disappointment. I guess I eat too slow. Haha.) The chimisliders were good, came out about 10 minutes after my order, was hot, well-seasoned and good all around, though nothing too special aside that it was "Good." The enchilada however exceeded my expectations. Some places just have a mushy squishy mess, drenched in sauce without a care. This place however was much much better. Each ingredient upon cutting it open was where it should be, no Pico all over the place, only on top and in a decorative fashion, the sauce was just right, each ingredient inside was done correctly and seasoned, the steak was cooked just right for the purposes of an enchilada, and overall, very VERY well done. And the size was... very appropriate for the price. I could only eat half of the thing. So it's not only a good reccomendation, but a good deal. (Unless you're a taco bell kind of person, where you can get like... 8 taco things for the same price... but then why are you at a nice resteraunt?) Finally dessert. What's a nice meal without something sweet? Speaking of, Juan just came by with a plastic bag for my meal, thank you. But yes. The fried ice cream.... well, I'm unsure as to what they coat the ice cream in, it's something akin to Corn Flakes or something to that extend. So it's not a fatty batter. It's quite a large amount of ice cream, I'd estimate about two-three large scoops. A little cheri, and a sopapilla on top. (Sopapilla are those fried puff pastry things coated in cinnamon sugar) so I'm definitely brushing my teeth when I get home. Environment? It's very.... Mexican? I guess? If you're here for the atmosphere, you won't get it. My particular seat was semi dark, but not too dark. It's got a ... Half shade down kind of lighting. Music is nice, and there's a good amount of walking space in the aisles.
Nonetheless, I give this place a 4/5. I reccomend stopping by and...
Read moreFor my celebratory Feast with THE KING, I ordered several pieces of food including the Palto Mexicana and the full Nachos dish for myself, and a dish for my wife. I was surprised by the amount of food that was given to me AND I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE ORDER OF FOOD.
I couldn't help myself and dug into the Nachos with in the first minute upon seeing them. The cheese and shredded chicken, not that non-AUTHENTIC grilled chicken, was amazing. Eating with just my hands was not enough, I had to use a fork to consume more of the nacho GOODNESS FASTER. IT IS REAL MELTED CHEESE, NONE OF THAT FAKE QUESO CHEESE. I was unable to pull myself away from this amazing flavor combinations, though I didn't put the sour cream and GAC on it as I believe it would have been too much. After finishing all of the Nachos, which I couldn't stop, I was left with a pit in my stomach as I was still HANGRY FOR MORE.
Next, I moved into the Palto, by starting with the Chili Reano, which I thought was chicken by the SIZE OF IT. It was good, but not AS SPICY AS I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE. I was surprised by the breading and how HUGE it was. MOUTH SAVORING GOOD. I was able to finish this side before I moved to the PROTIEN of the meal Carna asada.
Now I consumed the Carna Asada, also known as MEXICAN STEAK. It is so good, and the Char flavor is not painted on like other places. Sadly, I couldn't eat all of the steak because I have an Acid IMBALANCE IN MY BODY.
The Grilled Japleen Pepper was hot, like I assumed it would be, but it was good, but was too much for me. THE TACOQITO was nice and solid, no sag to this one, and was good and very flavorful. The crunch from the Taconite was amazing and I didn't stop till it was all gone. As expected, I was able to finish the Taquito in several bites and mixing it with salsa was good combination.
The enchilada was MEH, as it feels like a snack to me not a full meal as advertised. It was better dipped in salsa and sour cream than being eaten without any sauce. It feels like the same was Cheese sticks at an Italian restaurant.
For the finale, I picked the Rice and Beans dish to consume. I LOVE their black beans, yoo I love their flavorful black beans. YUM CRAZY GOOD BEANS. And this is the end of the meal, finishing off the rice and beans for this meal.
OVERALL, I GIVE THIS 5...
Read moreFirst off, let me begin by saying that my husband and I have dined in and taken out food from this particular location many times. But tonight will be the last time.
Tonight we placed an order online for pickup. When my husband arrived at the designated time, he was told that the online order had been received, but wasn't placed so there would be a 15-20 minute wait. No apology or explanation was given. My husband reminded the young man at the front desk that the point of ordering online was so that you didn't have to wait for your food. The young man told him "your food will be ready when it's ready". My husband decided to simply wait for the food rather than go elsewhere and when the young man brought the food to him, he was very curt and abrupt, acting as if annoyed. My husband informed the young man that he did not need his attitude. The young man continued to be rude, so my husband requested the manager. The young man stated at that point that the manager was his father with a "so there" posture & made no move to get said manager. At this point, my husband just left, but the kid had to get a parting shot in and told my husband "you are no longer welcome here!"
Did this person think we would want to return. When I called, I was told the young man's name is Gianni.
Let me be clear - all that was required was an apology for the error & the wait. Oh, and no snark as well. My husband was irritated, but respectful. Your employee was completely out of line. He was so blatant about it that it is obvious he knows EXACTLY what your customers mean to you. Nothing.
I don't beg establishments to treat me badly and...
