Tie-dye church transformed to innovative artsy museum with featuring a hip hop pop-up museum exhibit starting from Jan 2019 (not sure when it ends).
In a cozy room, the exhibit encapsulates hip hop artists of the 90s - Notorious BIG, Eminem, Wu-Tang, Snoop Dog, and Tupac, OutKast, etc. with customized display cases featuring memorabilia - records, sneakers, jerseys, shirts, jackets, bobble head dolls/figurines, newspaper articles. The autographed collection of mics was pretty impressive and my favorite item along with the Death Records chair!
There was a DJ Sat afternoon spinning records and a speaker in the room next door. There's also a large event space upstairs with beautiful murals.
As the space is cozy, 45 min is more than enough time to comfortably walk through the exhibit and take pics. There's a small parking lot behind the church and some vibrant murals on surrounding buildings.

Read moreI went to Candlelight: Vivaldi last night put on by FeverUp at Culture House and it was Absolutely AMAZING. This was held in the basement of the art gallery (which I really want to visit after seeing the reviews). There was a small stage with ~90 folding chairs, a small bar, a nice wide middle isle, and great acoustics. There were a couple of small things that I mentioned during my feedback survey that I hope FeverUp might do differently in the future. But on the whole, last night was the most talented quartet I've ever heard...playing beautiful music and educating/entertaining us between scores... in beautiful ambiance. It was truly beautiful. I can ONLY imagine how long it took to set everything up. I have already booked more events and can't wait until the next one. BTW, there's not really any parking nearby so I would keep that in mind when deciding on footwear. It took me ~10mins to walk from Waterfront Metro...but...
Read moreAlthough there were very nice murals on the outside the inside was dark and dirty resembling a dungeon. The smell of mold and dirt loomed throughout the venue. As a caterer, in 20 yrs I have NEVER leased a kitchen like the one offered here. The "full" kitchen consisted of a 3 compartment sink, 3 prep tables, a refrigerator, and a Cresco warming cabinet. All of which were filthy and a sticky film. There were also objects in the kitchen that didn't belong like a commercial size mop bucket, cleaners,, and etc..I spent 30 mins cleaning before I could prep for the actual event. I partly blame the client, Howard Cromwell for not doing a walk through until the very...
