We visited Escalante's during the mid-afternoon and there was ample parking. My wife and I walked in and were seated right away in a socially-distanced booth. We noticed that every one of the employees were wearing masks covering the nose and mouth. Dora introduced herself and asked for our drink order. We ordered sweet teas, but their tea comes unsweetened. My wife and I love coffee so we chose their coffee. It was delicious! Their coffee comes from Katz's, which is a 24-hour Houston-area restaurant. We prefer our coffee with creamer, but this was very good without creamer. Taste the coffee both ways (with or without cream and sugar) and see what you think. For our entrée, we chose combo Fajitas for 2 (beef and chicken), which is their medium-sized fajita dish. It will feed 2 people very well. The cost was $37 and there was a lot of fixings. At other restaurants that we've visited, such as Chuy's and Papasitos (they both have great-tasting food, too), the restaurants did not give us the same amount of cheese, sour cream, refried beans, and Mexican rice that Escalante's gave us. We asked to try the cilantro rice and Dora brought some for us to try (at no cost). It tasted really good, but our preference was the Mexican rice. My wife and I couldn't eat all of the fajitas, and we wanted to try a dessert, so we asked for containers. The containers were of nice quality, which was a nice surprise. (You won't concern yourself with food spilling outside of the containers while you're making your way through the busy traffic in the Webster area.) We asked for a dessert menu and Dora brought a tray of their dessert offerings. For our dessert, we chose hazelnut churros. Four churros come with a caramel dipping sauce and they tasted spectacular! We were smiling ear to ear while we ate the churros. My wife and I will definitely return. Ask to be seated in Dora's section. You won't be...
Read moreBeyond disappointment with the delivery service! They continued to bring our furniture out and had missing pieces. Then the manager sent us to Houston to pick up our order after we paid for delivery, all to find out they're not even open on Sundays. We were livid! All he could do was say sorry I forgot we're not open on Sundays. It tool 4 different delivery days for them to finally get us all our bedroom furniture. Missed so much work and wasted gas driving...talk about a nightmare! We bought furniture in the area with other stores and didn't have issues like this at all. I dont see us returning...
Read moreOn a breezy September morning, the thought occurred to me. ... Where does the earth and sky, as we know it, end... And new life begin? What makes the sun shine and the rain fall? It was breaking up my thoughts and I was sad and confused. It seemed like my questions were perpetuating the pain. I was traveling through a passage the locals called "Bay Area", after the Native American expression, meaning "whipped cream on lips". I passed a glittering pair of golden arches, under which, virgins danced. Not soon after I saw a threshold, announcing "Baybrook Gateway" and that is where things...
