DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR COMPUTER!!! I took my Geekbox computer into PC Laptops after being told that PC Laptops would honor the warranty provided by Geekbox since they had gone out of business. We left our computer in hopes that it would be repaired, but instead were told that it was beyond repair. Which was fine, however, the salesman, Jay Poulsen, told us that if we were to purchase a computer from PC Laptops (which was way overpriced $2700) that they would be able to recover the pictures from our old hard drive. He was so sure that he could recover the pictures that he also sold us a case for our hard drive to be used as an external hard drive, once they had recovered the pictures. Since there is a lot of sentimental value in those pictures, I decided to purchase the computer. We left our old computer with Jay when we picked up the new computer. He told me he would give me a call in a few days when the pictures were recovered. He never did. After I called a week later, two weeks later and then a month later, Jay told me that the hard drive was sent down to their "warehouse" and that our pictures were in the process of being recovered. He said that they were running a process and it had been running for weeks, but it looked promising. I continued calling every month to get an update. Jay and others at the store always acted like they could not find any information regarding my hard drive, but after I explained the situation, they would put me on hold and come back to the phone to say that the process was still running and they had seen it take up to 3 months to recover pictures. After 6 months worth of calls, they still stated the same thing. I have asked for their honesty, if they are unable to recover the pictures, to please just tell me that. Also, I have asked to just get the hard drive back. I have been told that they will try to get a hold of it and call me back, to which I never get a return phone call. I am pretty positive it is lost. I wouldn't have been too upset if they were unable to recover the pictures, as they had just stated they might be able to recover them, however, they have not been able to give my hard drive back to me! I don't feel that it is okay to just keep my hard drive! I have been told that Jay is no longer at this store, but that he is the Regional Sales Manager and that he will get back to me. That has not happened. At this point I feel that all I can do is write a negative review and that is my only recourse, unfortunately, for years and years of pictures (of my 3 kids from the time they were born to age 12) that have been misplaced by PC Laptops. I would recommend that nobody ever leaves their computer/hard drive with PC Laptops for repair, as they do not "love you" and have no regard for your belongings!
8/3/15 - Update: After writing this review, I was contacted by Andrew with PC Laptops, he is new to the company and was very kind. He was apologetic that PC Laptops had taken over a year to respond to my concern. However, he did confirm that my hard drive had been recycled without my knowledge or approval. So, he provided me with a 2TB Western Digital Hard Drive at no cost. While the hard drive is nice, and Andrew was very pleasant to deal with, I still have a hard time recommending this company after their lack of concern for my personal property, and the extremely high price of the computer that I received. I am hoping that in the future, I will continue to receive the kind of service that I received from Andrew, in order to make the price of my computer worthwhile. Also, one last thing....when I went to the West Jordan location to pick up the hard drive they provided me, the gentlemen at the store was polite and helpful, so I am hoping with new management in that store that the service will improve...
Read moreI dropped my sons iPad off to have a broken screen repaired just before Halloween and still don't have it at Thanksgiving, maybe I can get it back before Christmas???? When I turned it in initially, it took just over a week for them to contact me saying it was "fixed." Bad apple would have had it back to me in a day - but I went to PC laptops because of a friends recommendation. When I went to pick it up the first time, the home button did not look right. I pointed it out to the tech and he showed it to the manager, who then tried to tell me that it must have been brought in with a broken home button because they "don't touch the home button during repair." I knew it wasn't the original home button because when I took my WHITE iPad to them, they asked if it would be ok if they replace it with a black screen because they were out of white. Oddly enough, my home button was now black so obviously they did something with the home button. I didn't feel right about it, even though the manager was pressuring me to take it as is. When I pushed the home button one more time before leaving the store, it actually popped into and underneath the iPad screen. I left it with them so that they could "take a closer look." That was on 11/3/18... After a week I called back to check on the progress and they said they were waiting for another screen. After another week going by with NO communication I called again, but this time they asked if they could send it off to a specialist because the LCD screen connectors were damaged????? I keep trying to be patient because I want my iPad back in working condition, but at this point I don't know if that is going to happen. The customer service here has been below average and HONEST communication has not even existed. I have been the one who has to call them to see what is being done and still have no idea on when I will be getting my iPad back. Who knows if it's even going to work after I get it back. I sure don't feel like PC Laptop loves me!
Update to my first review. Once my Yelp review was submitted the communication DID get better. Gordon was always very nice to update me on the repair. Like I said in the first review I dropped my Ipad off BEFORE Halloween and was hoping to get it back before Christmas. Well, the week leading up to Christmas I was told they were still working on a few things and they hoped to be done by Friday before Christmas. Friday came and it wasn't ready. Monday came (Christmas Eve) I hadn't heard from anyone so I called around 3pm and was told they could not fix my Ipad at all, and that they would be sending me a check for all my troubles to buy a new Ipad. I had expressed several times during this 2 month process that Ipads were on sale for the Holidays and wondered if I needed to go and buy a new one. I waited patiently for the repair and it did not happen! On New Years eve I received a check for $189. Please tell me where on earth, I can get a new Ipad for that price? I am assuming they want me to buy a refurbished one off of ebay, but when you tell me that you are sending me money to buy a new Ipad, one would think it would be for a new Ipad. I am extremely frustrated! I could have bought a NEW one on sale, but because I was told it would be fixed I missed out on that. So now I am left with no Ipad at all, and half the money to...
Read moreI want to write a fair and honest review about my experience at PC Laptops. I had a rough start with PC Laptops six months ago when I initially purchased a very expensive computer in the Salt Lake store. I had several problems with hardware issues on the computer and spent multiple times at the store waiting on repairs. Eventually the manager switched out a new laptop for me, which I appreciated. While this situation wasn't ideal, even costing me a descent amount of money in attempt to solve, I have come to have complete faith in PC Laptops services and warranties. I think I was just a little unlucky. Through this experience I can tell you what sets PC Laptops apart from any other computer sales store, PC Laptops has the best customer service experience and warranties. As all computers seem to have expiration dates, some computers expire faster than others, and this expiration is mostly out of our control. I have had some bad experiences with computers crashing quickly, in the past, from stores such as Best Buy. My experience with computers purchased at stores like Best Buy was negative when it came to getting issues fixed. The costs to repair hardware issues were often outrageously high. I think computer shopping in general can just be frustrating. While my experience at PC Laptops was often stressful, as strange as this review may sound, I would purchase from PC Laptops first and without hesitation. At this West Jordan location, I have had amazing customer service working with the District Manager, Andrew. Andrew has personally contacted me to resolve any issue I may have. I can't say enough good about his help. I really appreciated Gabe and Chaz working so diligently and quickly to get my computer set up after an unfortunate glitch to the last one recently. I guess you can say that there are no easy or cheap roads to computers. I would at least like to hope there is an easy road to computer reliability someday. However, PC Laptops has given me peace of mind over my computer as it has being completely protected and guaranteed. Maybe they really do love me at PC Laptops, as their CEO promises. My only complaint is that there is no way to contact Dan Young about my experience. I would like to share how my experience went so that future customers can have an even more amazing experience. I would also like to tell him he has incredible employees in the Salt Lake, Murray, and West Jordan locations. I would highly suggest going to West Jordan and talking about their computer services, even if you don't have the easiest road to computers there, you can't beat the warranties they offer and the peace of mind it brings. If you are someone like me who runs into computer hardware issues constantly, talk to PC Laptops. I can say by experience that the money you are spending is covering any potential issue and that is worth it for a guy like me who hates having technology not backed up by warranties. PS, they give away drinks and candy why you wait at the store, so don't...
