The AMC Crestwood-18 seats are comfortable and the video quality is good. The color balance and contrast was fine. Staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Sunday evening 15 minutes before the scheduled "show-time". As expected we had to sit through 15 minutes of the very same repeating product commercials for cars, fast food restaurants and pharmaceuticals we are subjected to on home TV. When it reached "show-time" and we expected the movie to start, instead we were subjected to 21 minutes of preview "trailer teasers" for coming attractions. The worst part of that was that the audio volume levels were cranked up by 15 to 20 dB to to hearing damaging levels. We had to sit there with our fingers in our ears to avoid being subjected to the extreme sound pressure levels. Finally, 21 minutes after the published "show-time" the movie started, with the volume returned to normal theater levels. The movie (a drama) was fine, except for the distraction of the periodic, relatively loud bass drum and crash sounds that were leaking into our room presumably from one of the adjacent theater screening rooms. The video on our screen was sharp, but the intended high-contrast black levels in dark or night scenes was washed out on half of the screen because of red exit light spill over onto the movie screen. We enjoyed the movie, but we would have enjoyed it more without the audio leakage, the trailer sound pressure levels, and the 21 minute wait for it to start. We see more than enough movie "teaser" advertising on home TV, we don't need to be subjected to it when we pay for a theater show. If the "trailer teasers" had gone on for another 5 minutes, we would have left the theater! If the show is advertised to start at 5:30 it should start at...
Read moreI come to this theater once in a while with my two children. Almost always, the staff is friendly with the occasional exception being the usual and random completely miserable looking teenager. The place is always fairly clean, considering the number of people coming through here on a daily basis.
The one awful thing about this theater is that they put up the NO GUN signs at the entrance doors. I've seen different signs, some legal and sometimes not, but still. This sign ONLY tells us regular folks that this theater doesn't care about the criminals that may be carrying guns illegally... this sign tells us that this theater does NOT want law abiding family people, who have been background checked twice and have passed a live fire range test, people who are statistically 6 times LESS LIKELY to commit a crime than a police officer, to come into the theater for a two hour movie carrying their legally concealed firearm.
I admit, I was sitting in the theater just knowing that anyone with evil intentions could easily bring an arsenal into this theater, but the theater management specifically does not want ME to carry, even though I am licensed and have no criminal record. Having that sign at the door made me feel UNSAFE. And it made me feel like someone out there didn't want me to have the means to protect my son and my little daughter.
After seeing this sign today, I don't want to return. But as this place is very close to home, I will likely come back. It just sucks royally to know someone in management here is facilitating criminals and possible murderers to act...
Read moreTo be honest, tonight was one of the worst experiences I've had in almost twenty years of coming here. I didn't care for the fact that they closed off one entire side of the theater forcing patrons to walk in the rain from almost a block away. Of course that may have been done because of all the drunken fools that were in the theater tonight (number 12) waiving their cell phones throughout the movie. What really upset me was the Fandango kiosk. Instead of simply checking in like we normally do, with Fandango we had to wait 30 minutes in line for the one Fandango kiosk to get a ticket. It might have been better if the drunks could read the instructions to operate it. Meanwhile the people who were simply buying tickets were getting in twice as fast. Then we had to wait because the girl taking the tickets didn't have any 3D glasses. Instead of being an hour early to get a decent seat we got in five minutes before the show started and got to sit with all the kiddies who don't have school tomorrow - fun - NOT. For what it's worth. None of us waiting in line went to the concession stand, I guess you don't need our business. If you are going to make us park a mile away, waiting in line for ticketless tickets, not have 3D glasses for a 3D movie, guess we don't have patience to wait for the overpriced popcorn, a price we normally accept. Just not tonight.
I'm glad they could have multiple security people hanging around instead of taking care of customers, to take care of the drunks, but as someone who has been coming here for years, I think my business will have to...
