I went in to the Joshua Tree Thrift Shop affiliated with Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel in Yucca Valley thrift store today to pick up a few items. It went ok until I tried to purchase the three items I had. I asked the cashier to take a complaint that some of the items in the store seemed high priced for a thrift store. She started to tell me about the sales the thrift store has and I said that I really did not feel like listening to an explanation about the sales, and still would like her to take the complaint. She started saying more about the prices being low. I said that I did not feel like being argued with about it neither. She said she had never been treated so badly by anyone before and left the cash register area and got the manager. The manager let me know she has a hearing problem. I said in addition to a hearing problem she is histrionic and apparently she is incapable of taking a complaint as well. The manager was just as rude. She asked me if I would like her to take my money as she held my money up in the air. I said are you refusing me service. She did not answer. I said yes I gave it to you to take it so I could pay for the items and get out of here. She said she would give me some change. I said no I do not want anything from you besides I have the money, and I gave her a quarter to cover the change. The cashier and/or the manager could have made things much simpler by letting me know the amount owed. The manager ignored my questions and did not acknowledge my complaint neither. I had previously decided not to go into the church building because of treatment from the āwelcomingā committee on the phone even though I have sent them my tithes for years now. I am not going to ever go into the Joshua Tree Calvary Chapel Thrift store building again neither. It isnāt worth it. There are many other thrift stores in the area and I am not going to support the kind of behavior I experienced by going to the store or sending tithes to the church. I would have put zero stars. However, the site...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo many other great friendly thrift stores in this small, special Community to donate to other than this one GO TO THEM. CHRIS ALLEN IS a MAJOR flaw in this stores management. She is thrilled to take your donations YET very unfriendly, massively negative even seemingly gleeful in stating the stores RIGID POLICIES and that she was glad to be of NO assistance ! I think I made her morning. I donated so many things last night yet there was one bin I accidentally donated so I called this morning to ask If by any chance my donations had not yet been sorted through IF there was anyway they could please set aside this one bin for me. I asked with the understanding that if they had already been sorted I was out of luck. Chris Allen COULD NOT have been more unpleasant. The particular bin that I realized I left accidentally was of no value except to myself. It was paper. Chris Allen could not have been happier to be authoritarian. There is just no need to be so gleefully snide and caustic. RUN. FYI on the other had Dunkinā was a pleasure to deal with in receiving. Why these stores put people who are UN-friendly to its customers and their DIRECT livelihood in management position vs the alternative, is bewildering. I will Not be donating ever again to this store specifically because of Mrs. Allenās extremely unnecessary & un-Christian behavior. (I read a few other reviews & discovered this is a Christian affiliated thrift store) (One that does not uphold...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePrices are sometimes absolutely absurd- Converse shoes for $58? At a thrift store? They had some sort of Tigger figurine in a case for $40, with a paper of an eBay sale that priced it at $120 next to it, as if customers would be getting a grand old deal. Real thrift stores donāt partake in this kind of behavior, and itās disgraceful. To add, there are almost no items out on the floor, when their back room is stuffed with plenty to bring out. The store is no longer helpful to the community, only to the tourists who...
