Planet Fitness — Attraction in Zephyrhills

Planet Fitness refuses to provide orientations tour for blind clients. I was told that that was not a service they provide at least three times. It was too much work to show my friend where the cleaning supplies were and how to operate the paper towel machine. The staff also couldn't be bothered to show her where the ladies room was. Third door on the right is not an acceptable answer to somebody who can't see the the doors.

My understanding of the ADA which requires reasonable accommodation would apply to this situation. It is reasonable, and good manners, to show someone where the bathroom is.

I asked about the ADA. The staff seem to believe that the only thing they needed to worry about is if the bathroom was in compliance. Nobody bothered teaching them that reasonable accommodation in public facilities also means providing help for those with disabilities to use the club. I'm not suggesting highly specialized exercise machines, but asking if you need help should not be a horrible inconvenience. Staff should never make you feel like you are being a horrible inconvenience because you can't do everything the normal way.

I never want to enter that building ever again. My friend tells me that I'm over reaction, it's not like they had asked her to leave just because she's blind. They are just making it almost impossible for her to use their services as an independent adult.

The total body enhancement was down AGAIN for the 6th time in 2 weeks. I have had 2 skin cancer surgeries and the red light therapy helps my skin and scars. Today I noticed for the first time they have a hybrid in room #4 so I asked about if you could choose only red light therapy without the tanning lights. The guy I spoke to didn’t know so he asked whom I assumed was maybe a manager. This woman has been asked questions in front of me before and she always seems to be either talking to other employees or doing some sort of admin work and only half listens to questions from customers or employees inquiring for customers. When the young man asked her if you could set the machine for only red light therapy and not tanning she said YES. So I signed on for a 9 min therapy and when I looked at the control panel inside the booth it had on 1 button a pic of the sun & on the other button LED. I assumed it wouldn’t be the sun button since no one ever asks if you need to be walked through how to program anything. My bad for not ASKING. When my session was finished and I went back to the front desk I asked to speak to her personally. My skin felt tingly and I wanted to dbl check about which button to program. She then tells me you can’t separate them and it can only be used with both!!!! WTHECK!!!! So I spent 9 minutes tanning which is the absolute worst thing that I could do!!!! Have worked out at at least 5 different PF's & this one in my own town is the most disappointing. Staff turnover seems huge here which is usually a direct reflection of management. The GM at this location acts like a mad teen working a PT job they don't want to be at...unfriendly, speaks to no one & I've always felt unwelcomed or like I'm putting them out when I check-in and especially if they have to stop what they're doing to check me in for a hydro bed. The rest of the staff isn't much better...motivation and personality are hugely lacking. It didn't keep me from working out, though-I don't choose gyms for personality, and you never know what's going on in someone's life that could be the cause of a bad day. But this is more than one staffer having a bad day...it's collectively multiple people not representing PF very well. A lot has gone downhill recently. Not sure what exactly changed at this location, but it's filthy compared to a year ago. Someone was always walking by with the vacuum on their back or filling up spray bottles and now I constantly see trash on the floor of the locker room, bathrooms and main part of the gym, along with empty spray bottles and empty paper towels, no matter what time of day. I wanted to love this place but after 3 years it's time to give my $ & support to a place that appreciates...
