Mustakillik Maydoni, Independence Square.

Mustakillik Maydoni (Independence Square) is the heart of Tashkent and the largest public square in Uzbekistan. Formerly known as Lenin Square, it was renamed following the country’s independence in 1991.

Today, it serves as the main venue for national celebrations, military parades, and public events, symbolizing the spirit of a free and independent Uzbekistan. More than a traditional square, Mustakillik Maydoni is a beautifully landscaped park filled with fountains, flower beds, and monumental architecture.

At its center stands the Independence Monument, a globe representing Uzbekistan’s place in the world. Nearby government buildings, including the impressive Senate, reflect the power and ambition of the young nation.

One of the most striking features is the Arch of Good and Noble Aspirations, a grand structure of white marble stretching 150 meters and supported by 16 columns. Atop the arch, sculptures of storks symbolize peace and tranquility, key values cherished by the Uzbek people.

Also within the square is the Glory and Memory Alley, dedicated to the soldiers who died in World War II, and the Happy Mother Monument, which symbolizes the Motherland and the young Republic of Uzbekistan. As a peaceful and symbolic site, Independence Square is a must-see for any visitor...

Mustaqillik Maydoni station reflects this style, with its spacious halls and elegant design elements, making it not just a transit hub but also a sight worth seeing.

Located right below Independence Square, the station provides easy access to important landmarks like the Ezgulik Arch and the Independence Monument. It's a very convenient stop for tourists exploring the area, and the metro system itself is well-connected, clean, and affordable, making it an excellent way to...
