MAKE SURE to check your credit card charges after your stay. I was charged twice for one night stay. I called them up for this, and the answer I received did not assuage the experience at all (rather it seemed to make it worse). The rooms also seemed to be of sub-standard quality; while generally clean (more on this below) and modern, my room had a later large hole in one wall, and no airco. The two controllers for the fans both did not work (likely empty batteries). Cleaning of the room was not great - the areas that needed to be clean where, but other areas were dusty and grimy. The shower was blocked and overflowed. The bedroom sliding door did not want to lock. Reception (one person) was closed at a time it said it would be open when I checked out, and it seems service/friendliness could have been better. If you're a single traveler, and you are used to a few things/roughing it a bit, this place may work for you, but I strongly advice that married couples going on a romantic trip avoid this place. Not sure about families, would depend on family and what they are used to I suppose. There is a sign in the room urging people to "contact management instead of leaving an anonymous review". A question to management; why not do some effort (new or improved cleaning staff, hospitality training for existing staff, check batteries before someone comes, make rooms the day of entry and not beforehand (if so), ensure showers do not flood, ensure locks work, remove that "anonymous review" sign) and run a top-class place? The rooms in themselves are modern and great, so with a little TLC it seems this place could shine in no time. UPDATE: I did get the extra charge back, so made it 2 stars...

The Sands Apartments 40 The Esplanade
Hello everyone.
I don't have chances to fight with the manager of this building (Lynne Rockett) but I can put all my points here for this doesn't happen with other people in the future.
Since I started my 6 months contract there I suffer couple times with xenophobia (I'm brazilian) and aggressive argues without any chances to discuss with other responsable. In this property we were stolen couple times, without any help, we stayed all contract without TV, air conditioner and with the unit in horrible conditions (leaking water, bad paint).
In the final of the contract the manager come to our unit to scream and offended us without any motive. And now she is charging us all the bond cleaning that we already did, and adding a lot of debits that wasn't fair enough considering the horrible stay there.
I came to the place this week to have a healthy conversation with her and for we don't need to fight in the court, finding a deal. And the unique answer (screaming again) that I had was for I go to the court because she really don't care about our rights.
I always have for me that we need to threat the costumers and clients with the minimum respect and I never in my life felt so disrespect than when I stayed in The Sands. This is my last try to put my point of view - AS A CLIENT!!! - to protect others of the same situation, and I'll try to put this review in all places that I can.

I called on the number provided to inform that the pool is cold, I get a blunt reply from Lyn who replied oh the body corporate forgot it, and then checks how long I’m staying there for and says well u only staying there for a night that annoyed me , didn’t care to make our stay well worth it! I paid for the room and all the things that are advertised should be provided, she was of no help and did nothing about it. When I go on to ask her name again and was reluctant to tell me just because she knew I will put a complaint in. I paid $220 for just a double size bed No wifi or heated pool as advertised. Terrible customer service! Thank you lyn for ruining our weekend getaway my daughter could Not use the pool when she looked forward to it the whole time. Very disappointed not worth the $220 go elsewhere! You would get a better apartment with better service...
