Went here with my wife and 2yo daughter. was expecting it to be busier on a saturday night with the markets on nearby, but while there were many people sitting outside, the inside was quite empty and we were free to choose any table we wanted.
The staff were very helpful and pointed out where the kids chairs were without me even needing to ask. I noticed there was no kid specific option on the menu which would have been nice (though this may also have been due to their reduced menu because of covid) We ordered the chicken schnitzel, fish and chips, some chicken tenders (mainly for my daughter though we liked them as well), and a cheesy garlic pizza (because the garlic bread wasn't on the limited menu sadly), a large jug of softdrink so we could keep topping up our cups, and a couple apple juice for my daughter.
There was a little wait, which is understandable however all meals came out great and really hot, we shared some chips, salad and vegetables with our daughter and she ate some of the tenders even with the lemon marinade. the pizza arrived a little later and she enjoyed some of that as well.
Overall the experience was great, the staff were willing to assist and offered to swap out the red wine sauce my wife didn't like for her meal. As we were leaving they also noticed we hadn't finished all the pizza and offered to put it in a pizza box for us to take away with us which was simply amazing.

Read moreSandbar Surfers Paradise has both al fresco and inside seats. This time, we chose to be seated outside because the weather was rather cool. Also, we were able to people watch while we enjoyed the food at Sandbar. Speaking of food, Sandbar is known for western selection such as gourmet burgers, fish and chips, steaks and seafood. Also, they are touted to have the “largest range of beers in Gold Coast”. Hence, we were a little spoilt for choice on what we were to have.
In the end, after “inspecting” the menu, we settled for the Rump Steak ($36 for 250g – Grain fed, Angus, marble score 2+, South East QLD Served with chips & salad or mashed potato & vegetables, choice of gravy, mushroom or pepper sauces) and the Prosciutto Pizza ($26 – Ricotta, honey, roquette leaves, caramelised onions, balsamic, mozzarella). We also walked over to the bar and ordered the Byron Bay Lager ($12) as we hit a little snag on the orders via their QR code. After ordering, we checked on our order history but nothing was recorded. Hence, we went over to buy to order our beer and also to verify the order since we checked that our credit card had already recorded the transaction. Thankfully, after a quick check with the kitchen, the order did get through and before long our orders came…

Read moreDisappointing and overpriced. We arrived and asked to be seated - the waitress waved her arm and said to just sit anywhere and QR code to see a menu. So we chose our table (note all tables are on wheels and we spent some of our time here stopping the table rolling away) and placed our order - garlic bread and a steak each. The garlic bread arrived - it was a puffed up roti type bread swimming in a huge amount of oil. I asked if we could have side plates to eat this from which was met with a look of incredulousness. The bread was virtually inedible due to the amount of oil, but what we could eat was ok. Our steaks then arrived a short time later . I had asked for a medium cooked steak with rosemary jus - I received a very rare steak with mushroom sauce (using tinned mushrooms). Luckily this wasn’t my husbands plate as he is allergic to mushrooms. I ate as much of the steak as I could - it was a good cut of meat , just waaaay undercooked. Veggies were fine. Husbands steak was cooked ok (well done as opposed to medium to well as requested) and again was a good cut. Again though, plates were swimming in oil and were very unappealing. We were starving and got through most of our meals although suffered later that night with upset stomachs. Would not recommend - there are plenty of better...
