This is a great location for exploring Salzburg, but it is Spartan lodging. To get to the desk, you walk through a tunnel of smoke, populated by all the smokers, including the hotel staff. There was no hint of smoke inside the hotel, thankfully. It is an older building, but there is an elevator. The staff were all charming and helpful. There is no breakfast, but there is hot water in the lobby and plenty of bakeries, restaurants and a grocery nearby. Our room was small, and sparsely furnished, but clean. There are showers (no tubs). A communal washing sink for laundry, etc, is on each floor. Our room was fine until Friday night, when it became extremely noisy, from the street noise outside. Plan to join the party until 2am if you stay here on a weekend. The good side of this is that it is a fun and lively neighborhood. It is just as charming and less densely packed with tourists the other side of the river. It is also significantly less expensive. And you can be on the other side in 5 minutes (or less!) The streets around the hotel are closed to cars. Travel outside the city by bus or train is easy from this location.

Dorm-style rooms in a great location. Near restaurants and one bridge to old town. Easy to reach from the train station, about 15 minute-walk. Safe area and comfortable room, mine was 107- right above a very popular music bar that stayed open and very loud. I didn't mind the noise and slept well. Rate is high for the type of room: basic dorm double with bath, mini fridge. Location makes up for that. They are kind to offer tea and cake early in the morning. I would return here.

I stayed at this hotel right now, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The bed in my room collapsed during the night, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. To make matters worse, am I supposed to fix the bed myself? It was late at night, there were no staff on duty, and no emergency number to call for help. This is unacceptable for the price I paid, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We took a taxi from the train station to this hotel, we thought it was on a road but it’s kind of not! It’s in a square with three fab restaurants right outside. No need for taxi either it’s close enough to an underground. The reception area is very traditional and we got booked in very quickly. Great staff. |There is no breakfast served just coffee and maybe cake. Our room was big but overlooked a street with a late night bar but it didn’t bother us as we like the bit of lively noise that’s just a bustle of a bar. The pillows were thin but got more from reception without any hassle! Good fridge in the room for water/wine etc. Hotel is in a great district within walking distance to river and shops. Take a boat ride, it’s great. If you prefer top hotels it’s not for you but for us it was quiet, friendly and close to bars and restaurants. Good value for money, great staff and super clean! |Would recommend for a...

The staff at this place were not as seasoned as the other places during our visit, however they were sufficient. The rooms were clean and provided the necessities. The shared bathrooms were ok. The biggest drawback to this place was the noise inside. The hallways and ceramic tile floors in the bathrooms did not absorb much sound, so guests using the bathroom/blowdryer echoed throughout the halls. Not much sound insulation. And, the shared bathroom was used by someone to blow dry their hair, and left a LOT of hair on the bathroom floor. There were no cleaning supplies available to sweep the floor, so I ended up wetting paper towels and wiping them myself. It would have been nice to have access to supplies to clean before/after patrons use...
