The Marko-Feingold-Steg is a pedestrian bridge in Salzburg, Austria, named in honor of Marko Feingold, a Holocaust survivor and a prominent figure in Austrian history.

Key Information:

Location:

• The bridge spans the Salzach River, connecting the right and left banks of Salzburg. It provides an important link between the old town (Altstadt) and the newer parts of the city.

History:

• Originally called the Mozartsteg, this pedestrian bridge was renamed Marko-Feingold-Steg in 2021, to honor Feingold’s legacy and contributions to post-war Austria. • Marko Feingold (1913–2019) was a survivor of several concentration camps and became the president of the Jewish Community in Salzburg. He dedicated his life to educating others about the Holocaust and worked tirelessly for Holocaust remembrance.

Significance:

• Symbol of remembrance: Renaming the bridge was part of an effort to honor those who endured the horrors of the Holocaust and recognize Feingold’s life work. • Tourism: The bridge offers picturesque views of Salzburg’s iconic skyline, including the Hohensalzburg Fortress and the Salzach River, making it a popular route for tourists.

The Marko-Feingold-Steg serves as both a practical connection within the city and a symbolic reminder of Austria’s history and the importance of tolerance and...

The love locks on Marko-Feingold-Steg add a wonderfully romantic touch to this beautiful footbridge. As you walk across, you’ll notice countless locks attached to the railing, each representing a unique love story. Couples from near and far come to secure their padlocks, symbolizing their enduring affection, and many personalize them with names or special dates.

This charming tradition creates a vibrant and colorful display that enhances the overall atmosphere of the bridge. It’s heartwarming to see so many expressions of love and commitment, and it invites visitors to pause, reflect, and perhaps even add their own lock to the collection.

If you're visiting the bridge, take a moment to explore the locks and appreciate the stories they tell. It’s a delightful experience that adds to the magic of...

There's a good reason why the Makartsteg Bridge in Salzburg is called the Love Lock Bridge! It is covered in locks that couples have left behind as a testament to their devotion and love. The Salzach River and the city skyline may be seen clearly from the bridge. This area of Salzburg is quite charming. Make plans in advance to make a wish and place your love lock on the bridge. It can get very crowded on the bridge. Make an effort to arrive early. If you want to see the charming Salzburg houses and get away from the visitors, you must take a stroll along the river. A well-liked location for talented musicians to showcase...
