I really liked this little coffe place, lots of good vegan options, good coffee. I enjoyed going there and it could have been a regular spot for us. But then the most ridiculous thing just happened which made the hospitality score a -10:
We just sat down with our cake and coffe after a hike. For relaxing we also brought a small little crad game (Pixies, check it out, can recommend it)
We started playing it when the waitress (maybe the owner, not sure) came and told us that we can't play cards here at least not on the street tables, we would have to come inside. I asked why.
She said because gambling is illegal and they would be held responsible if the police came. I told her that we are not gambling and its not illegal to play card games in public. She answered it's the law blabla. I told her again it's not a law and our game is not gambling. She told me they could'nt control that. I answered: I am telling you, this is not gambling but she still wanted us to stop. We left. We would have had at least 2 more coffes and cakes and many more in the future. Now we are not coming back.
The most important thing: I don't mind if a café owner doesn't want people to play cards in their place because it's not their style, not the vibe they want. That's their call. I wouldn't wan to go to a place like this neither but i wouldn't be mad. It's their honest decission. But here the woman tried to hide behind a "law" and they had to follow the rules which is not true. You decided that we had to stop playing, even after i told you that it was not gambling. The police would let us play. You wouldn't. Ergo your decission. Your anti hospitality towards us as clients. And guy please google the game PIXIES. Then you see how ridiculous it is to even think it could be gambling related.
And the fact that she said we could play inside and the vibe of the place in general also showed that it is probably not a question of the image or whatever. So i really don't get it. If people play a game, go check it out and don't treat them like their some illegal backroom poker players.
Ridiculous.
Can't recommend this place to anybody for anything...because let's say you go on a date. Prostitution is illegal. How are they going to check if one of you isn't a prostitute? Might throw you out.
Or you want to work on your laptop? How are they gonna know that you'r not buying or selling drugs or weapons on the dark web? Might throw you out. Really anybody there could be doing something illegal and they couldn't be sure about it. It's tough having a coffe place these days. Apaarently even tougher to go to one without being suspicious of...

Read moreThese guys know a thing or two about coffee and I can confidently say I have had the best coffee in Salzburg there. And then when I realised the barista is Aussie, that made perfect sense!
The place is super cute, it’s in a pedestrian area, with a little terrace outside. Inside looks very Scandi Chic. It’s super clean.
Food wise, it has a selection of pastries and cakes. There’s not a ton, which means it’s really fresh and nd there’s no food waste. I tried the croissant and it brought me back to my childhood - and as you know, I have had a few croissants in my life! I have also tried the pain au chocolat which was just as tasty, and a carrot cake which was beautiful too.
Disclaimer: I didn’t have that in one sitting: I liked the place so much the first time, I came back...
