I am so glad we found the Benediktushaus for our sister-trip to Vienna in early December. The location was fantastic for us visiting the Christmas Markets - especially the Altwiener Christkindlmarkt literally just outside the door. We were a 10 minute walk to Stephensplatz, the Rathaus and the Hofburg complex. If anything was further out, transit was easily accessible. |The rooms were very standard, but comfortable. There was plenty of room with shelves, a closet with hangars, a good-sized ledge in the bathroom, a working towel heater, etc. The bedding was comfortable, the towels were adequate. Shampoo/body wash was provided, but no lotion or conditioner. The hairdryer was dated... but we didn't stay here for luxurious comforts. |As mentioned in other reviews the European-style breakfast was very nice and the staff was always helpful if something was running low. |We were on the second floor (the same floor as the breakfast room), and enjoyed sitting out in the shared area in the evenings since we were in 2 different rooms. |We arrived during business hours, but if you arrive after-hours, you will need to pay attention to the instructions they provide to you. The doors are locked in the evenings and your key is needed for access. |We used the spiral staircase to get to the 2nd floor, but the small elevator is available. The elevator is in the center of the spiral staircase, so it is small. There are also several small steps before you get to the elevator, one step up at the exterior door and another step up to access the elevator. |The staff are great and very welcoming. This was really a very good value for staying in Vienna...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it. The location was incredibly practical—especially during our December visit—as it was right in front of a charming Christmas market, which made everything feel extra festive and convenient.
The room was super quiet, which was a big plus for us as light sleepers. We appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and had a great night's sleep every night.
One of the highlights, though, was the attention to detail regarding our dietary preferences. We reached out in advance to ask about vegan options for breakfast, and the staff went above and beyond. Not only did they prepare separate vegan plates with a variety of delicious options, but they even replaced the non-vegan caramel pillow treat with a specially arranged vegan wafer. These thoughtful touches made us feel really welcomed and cared for.
All in all, a...
Read moreThe location of Benediktushaus is perfect for seeing all of the major sites in Vienna, yet away from the tourist crowds. The rooms are modern, immaculate, and comfortable with feather pillows and summer-weight duvets. A large window opens into the courtyard, allowing in a breeze without risk of noise. The reception desk is not staffed after 5PM, but you are given a key to the exterior door to let yourself in. Bountiful continental breakfast is served in a sunny, pleasant room. Wifi is free, but the signal is strongest in rooms closest to the router near the reception area. If you are looking for a full-service hotel, this is not your VIenna accommodation. If you want a unique, quiet experience for a good value in the heart of old Vienna, you will enjoy...
