Hotel Kvl in Phnom Penh stands out for its prime location, nestled directly beside the Royal Palace and the river, making it a prime spot for tourists looking to explore the city's historical and cultural landmarks. The hotel itself is equipped with modern and stylish furnishings, ensuring a comfortable stay. The bed was particularly comfortable and the breakfast was a highlight, being both delicious and served à la carte, allowing for a personalized dining experience in the morning. However, our experience took a turn when it came to the transfer service from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh. The cost of over $180 for the transfer felt exorbitant, especially given the condition of the vehicle and the service provided. Being transported in an older car, coupled with a driver who was not only unable to communicate in English but also constantly distracted by multiple ringing mobile phones, significantly detracted from our overall experience. Despite attempts to use Google Translate, communication was futile, and the incessant noise became a source of irritation.Given the high price, our expectations for the transfer service were not met, leading us to conclude that utilizing a service like „Grab“ for a fraction of the cost would be a far better option in the future. On a more positive note, the transfer service from the hotel to the airport was priced at $20, which felt more reasonable and within acceptable limits.Another significant issue was the noise level in our room. Situated on the top floor directly beneath the hotel's rooftop bar, the sound levels late into the night were intolerable. The booming music and lively atmosphere of the bar, while perhaps enjoyable for some, felt more like being in a nightclub than a hotel room. This was particularly unwelcome as we sought to rest and recover from the exhausting transfer earlier in the day.In conclusion, while Hotel Kvl boasts an excellent location and modern amenities that contribute to a comfortable stay, the high cost and poor execution of the transfer service from Sihanoukville, coupled with the disruptive noise from the rooftop bar, marred our experience. Future guests would do well to consider alternative transportation options and inquire about room placement to ensure a more...
Read moreVery Bad Experience at first time on new year night!
I booked KVL in advance for one day on 30th, to enjoy my count down night at the good spot and brand new hotel in town with the river view room.
Very disappointed with the service. There are 2 issues from my end. Parking lot Management service
-There is very limited parking lot. They don’t even dare to care to call or inform me in advance for the parking lot. Turn out we don’t have any parking space available for us as advance notice and no solution to us at ALL.
-During finding the parking lot, I hop out to talk with receptionist, (I called to them twice ab parking lot-no solution) then I was asking them for checkin at 9pm. I asked about solution of parking lot, she said she have no solution for me since her manager is away. Then she ask me for ID and everything as requirement for checkin- I completed that part. They suddenly just mention to me that the room I booked (River View) is having issue with the Aircon, right after I giving them all my checkin information. Eventually the manager is poping out of no where to inform me on the better offer. They offer me with upgrade room which have no view to enjoy the new year celebration at all.
= There is no proper management information passing to me at all even tho they already have my contact number, I called them twice to check on parking lot. knowing I’m coming to...
Read moreMy first impression when I arrived to my room was "wow", because I was really impressed by its cleanness. Especially the bathroom. I stayed in many so-called higher level hotels, but the bathrooms never have been that clean as in the KVL. No rust, no black stains, simply clean and here it starts to feel comfortable. The restaurants are very recommended. I took all of my breakfasts in the "Skylight". The menue offers something for every taste. I used the "Alchemist" in the lobby area for reading, doing some work at my PC and enjoying coffee and cake (I recommend the Irish Coffee 😊). Finally, the "Up by KVL" - like a roof-top bar - offers a wonderful view over the Mekong river. While having some beer(s) and mini-burgers (which by the way have been delicious !), the moon high up in the sky, you really can feel relaxed and far away from all the burdens of normal life. Last, but not least, the staff. I was totally impressed by their friendly way to help and support in any situation. All of them - from the front desk to the restaurants and the people who make up your room - are really nice, friendly and supportive. To make a long story short: If you chose the KVL, you make definitely no mistake. I recommend this hotel for private or business stay. And their service to take you from and to the airport is well organized and also...
