Lahore Punjab Restaurant & Hotel (Halal) — Restaurant in Khan Daun Penh

I did not stay in the hotel/hostel (?) upstairs; this review is just of the restaurant downstairs.

The first person to serve me - a north Indian or Pakistani - could barely understand English. I do not see how they will serve tourists if they cannot speak English.

The first two or three of my main dish choices were not available, so that was not a particularly good start. Also, the naan bread I wanted (Kashmiri 'sweet' naan) was not available either.

They also said poppadoms were not available, which is odd. To be quite frank, I got the distinct impression that most of the items on the menu were not available.

I eventually ordered a daal makhani and requested that it be made extra spicy. Unfortunately, not only was the dish not extra spicy, it was not spicy at all. Indeed, it was quite bland. So, in short, they simply ignored my request.

The cumin rice was okay, but how difficult is it to make?

The 'garlic' naan bread was NOT a naan bread. It had NOT been baked in a traditional tandoor (clay) oven. In fact, it was more like a doughy pizza than a naan bread.

Punjab and Pakistani restaurant-cum-guesthouses are popping up in the riverside area of Phnom Penh like mushrooms. I do not see how they will all survive, especially when the food is at best...

I have visited this restaurant. Its rooms are very comfortable and luxury. I have visited many restaurants but I haven't seen a restaurant like this. When I entered the hotel, the first thing I saw was the hotel garden, which was very green and large, with lots of greenery. All kinds of flowers were in bloom. In the morning, the drops of rain on these flowers looked very nice. After entering the hotel, the service there was very good. They first showed us the room rate list and after checking us in, they took us to our room. The rooms were very comfortable and bright. The hotel staff and the environment were very clean.
