Stay at the Mont Tremblant Westin – November 11- 14
We are regular visitors to Mont Tremblant staying between and nights per year in the Village. We have our favourite hotel, however, this time we decided to check out the Westin. That was our first mistake. Upon arrival, we were checked in and told that the pool and spa were under repair, even though we had called the previous day and were assured they would be available. They offered us daily passes for La Source, a pool and recreation centre located a few hundred metres away. Although this was appreciated, it meant every time we wanted to swim we had to get fully dressed (it was only 8 degrees Celsius out) pack a bag with our trunks, head over there and change in the locker rooms; certainty much less convenient than using the Westin’s facility.
Once we checked into our room, which was modern and spacious, we noticed that the fireplace did not work. We called the front desk and they promptly sent up a service person who replaced the thermostat batteries and resolved the issue. Another thing we noticed was that the clocks had not been set to daylight savings time, which had changed the previous week-end. The next morning, we started to prepare our breakfast and when we opened the bar fridge to retrieve our food we noticed that it was frozen solid as a previous guest had turned the dial to the maximum and since the fridge was on the ground you couldn’t see the dial unless you squatted. This is obviously something the housekeeping staff should have noticed and reset. We called the front desk to complain and they apologised and offered us 2 free drinks at the bar (I would have much preferred to have our food). We then noticed that there was no hot water in the kitchen sink so we called the desk again and they promised to have this fixed. We went out and enjoyed the beautiful mountain and when we returned we noticed that there still was not hot water. We called the desk again and were told that they could not do the repairs and that they would move us to a comparable suite on the sixth floor and would be sending someone up with a luggage cart to help us move. We packed up our stuff (we were staying 4 days so we had quite a bit) and waited. Forty-five minutes later I decided to go down to the desk to see what was taking so long and when I spoke with the concierge he didn’t even know what I was talking about. I asked him to give me the new keys and we would move ourselves (pretty rotten service if you ask me).
That evening we decided to eat at the restaurant and use the 2-free drink coupons. We both ordered medium rare steaks and when they finally arrived—there was only one server so it took a while—they were more than well-done. When we mentioned this to the server she thanked us for the feedback and promised to the let the cook know (???). We ate what we could and left with a $90 bill for our troubles.
On Sunday, we woke up around and noticed that there was no water at all. We called the desk (that’s 4 times now if you’re counting) and were told there was no water in the whole hotel and they were working on it; they hoped it would be back within the hour. We explained that we were meeting friends for lunch and needed to shower and get ready. They apologised but couldn’t do anything for us except offer us coupons for the la Source centre (they have a high school locker room set up so not really ideal, especially when you are paying over $200 per night for your room). We ended up going to another hotel in the village where we have elite status and were welcomed and allowed to use their facilities.
The other issue we experienced during our whole stay was with the Internet, SPG gold members we were offered free basic Wi-Fi service in lieu of the bonus points. We had no issue with the slow speed (they make it very clear that you are getting the BASIC service) but what we found inconvenient was that we had to log back in dozens of times; sometimes even after we were already logged in. I would suggest if you want reliable Internet at that property pay for it.
Overall, our stay was mediocre at best. As I mentioned the rooms were nice but all the issues we experienced overshadowed this. When we were asked about our stay upon check-out, we mentioned the various issues and were offered 5,000 Starwood points (each night is worth 10,000 so not much of a compensation). In the end when we travel and stay at luxury properties we expect things to go smoothly. The odd issue is simply a minor nuisance but when so many things go wrong it takes away from the experience.
A few days later I called the hotel’s general manager, Rhakiya Taylor, who had personally made the booking for us and left her a message asking if she could call back at her convenience to discuss our stay. A week later and still no call. I guess that says it all; they obviously don’t care about their customers. We will not be going back to this hotel and will be returning to the other one where we have been staying for over 10 years and have always been well treated and made to feel like...
Read moreGreat location |- Room was large (but in need of a renovation)|- Jacuzzi was the perfect temp.-|- Staff were all very gracious and sweet (the hotel overall seems very understaffed). ||The hotel is going under a huge renovation. The lobby is half done with limited seating and the bar area is super small (not sure if this is being renovated too). ||Our room 326 was dated and dusty. Next year hopefully will be better? We found it strange that the kitchen only had glasses and cups but no cutlery or bowls. So you had to go to the bar and ask for them OR go buy them at the supermarket. The bathroom didn’t have any toiletries except the bare basics. ||The restaurant Leo was really pretty and looked like it had its renovation already. If that’s what the rest of the hotel will look like next year it will be beautiful.||The lobby bar was small, with a tiny little fridge with a few items to buy. Hopefully that will be improved with the renovation. Any time we visited in the morning there was only 1 person working with a long line. One day the person on staff was making coffees and ran out of milk and someone had to fetch it from upstairs so he was sort of stuck. They had pastries and other items which were good.||The ski lockers were convenient, we never met someone who worked in there but the valets downstairs were very helpful when we needed to move around our skis/gear.|We used the hot-tub and pool 2x and the lifeguard was super sweet playing different games with the kids.||We were visiting over US Presidents week, the hotel was booked to capacity and there were dozens of teenagers that came out of the woodwork like trolls in the night banging on doors. I am American and these little idiots did it multiple times to us during our stay (Sunday-Friday). I’m sure it happened to others on our floor as well. My husband and I yelled at them and called security 2x during the week. I don't mind kids messing around but do it in the lobby or in one of your rooms. Don’t disrupt other people with little children who are trying to sleep before getting up early to ski. If you are reading this and are a parent of one of these teenagers maybe teach them some manners? Stop making the stereotype of ignorant /rude American the reality. Just show some class. When I called the desk the second time about it the receptionist seemed to know this was an issue so I couldn’t have been the only one who complained. She said she would message her manager regarding some type of compensation. I have yet to receive a note or anything regarding this so I'm assuming she just said that to shut me up. ||Lastly, when we got home (7 hours after we checked out) I realized a small paper bag from Tremblant Signature gift shop was not with us. It had a child’s t shirt, teddy bear and a Christmas ornament. I emailed Chelsea the concierge right away and she said that housekeeping would look and then send a link to ship it. After multiple followups someone finally responded it wasn't found. I have no idea how this would be thrown out by the staff so I’m unclear on what happened to it and I guess now...

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to hit the slopes and then hit the apres-ski scene with style, look no further than Le Westin Tremblant! Nestled right in the heart of the pedestrian Tremblant Village, this place is prime real estate for both mountain adventurers and those who’d rather be sipping a hot chocolate by the fire than actually skiing.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Alexia, who checked us in with the kind of warmth you wish your family gave you at holidays. Bonus points for letting us check in early! And let’s talk valet parking – it was quick, it was easy, and best of all, our car stayed snow-free in the garage (goodbye, snow-covered car blues).
Our room? Cozy and comfy! We had a king-sized bed that felt great after long ski days, plus a pull-out couch that could comfortably fit our two boys (8 & 4). The fireplace? Perfect for those chilly winter nights when you want to feel fancy, but also warm and toasty. The walls were paper thin and we could hear everything. The shared balcony was HUGE—ideal for watching snow fall, although we did wish for some patio furniture to sit and sip hot cocoa. But hey, it’s a shared space, so I get it! The room did feel a bit dated, but renovations are coming, and I’m all for a good facelift.
Let’s talk food. If you're lucky enough to have Titanium status (yes, it’s as fancy as it sounds), you'll score complimentary breakfasts at Leo every morning. There were four options on the menu - see picture for “Platinum” options - and it was still a great start to our mornings. The place is sleek and modern, but unfortunately, a little understaffed, which made breakfast a slow burn. However, we were lucky enough to have Thomas, our French waiter who was basically the embodiment of charm. He served us with a smile three of our five day stay and made us feel like we were at a Michelin-star restaurant (though no Michelin stars were involved).
Now, the location is PRIME. We were literally steps away from everything—restaurants (Poco Loco, Forge, I’m looking at you), ski rentals, lifts, and the Tremblant Activity Centre. We could even pop over to the water park, Mission Laser, and more in just a few minutes. Oh, and those ski lockers on the third floor? A game-changer. Just grab your gear and you’re on the lift in minutes—goodbye, waiting in line!
We had such a blast that we’re already planning our return next year. Here’s to another epic apres-ski trip, snow-filled days, and hopefully modern, renovated...
