We arrived to our room with someone else’s luggage and groceries, packages inside. Went to the desk and told them they gave us a room where someone was already staying. They said, No, that’s your correct room. My husband and I were talking about it in the elevator when the guy in there said he was going down to check where his stuff was as he and his wife have been waiting a long time for their stuff. Luckily for him and us, we figured out his stuff was in our room. He came back with us to get it out. Later a bellman came with a trolley to remove it, but we said it was done already. Later we saw the guy whose stuff it was and he said the bellman came to his room and blamed him. Saying he (the guest) gave the wrong room number. He told him he did not and he even asked him to write it down to make sure he wouldn’t forget, but he said he wouldn’t forget. Well he did, LOL. Even if the customer gave wrong number(he knows he didn’t) why would you go to his room and then blame him instead of just saying sorry for the mixup. Rooms were nothing special. Seemed pretty dated and bed lumpy and actually on a box spring frame that can be moved. We fell asleep with the remote on the bed and it fell underneath the bed from the back. Had to move the whole bed out, lol. Bathrooms were nice though, except toilet seat was loose and wouldn’t stay tightened. Water in tub backs up with shower, but the bathroom seemed nice.. It’s a boutique Hotel, but rooms need updating badly. Outdated chunky furniture(even for botique), old, tired beds, cheap small pillows (3 for king bed) and NO reg outlets for plugging in chargers, let alone a USB spot. Bedding was comfortable. Mattress not so much. No microwaves in the room. Had service to the room and still had to ask for toilet paper. Ordered a $32(or maybe it was $22)Turkey club and it was a two slice toasted sandwich and for the turkey, it was only one slice of deli Turkey inside. What? Turkey club with once thin slice of turkey? Wasn’t what the states call a turkey club at all, LOL. I had two alcoholic drinks and didn’t even notice after there was any alcohol. I literally think there wasn’t any. Save your $15 a drink. Bread was very dry and I couldn’t believe the charge for a basic, underwhelming sandwich. Literally one thin slice of Turkey on the whole thing. Desert was beautiful and awesome tasting. Not big for the price, but you’re buying it for the looks and taste which was absolutely great. Boring restaurant for breakfast and if you have plans for the day, go early as it really takes forever to get served, eat and the check. Though the service was polite and nice. Two days in a row our eggs over easy came over hard. Absolutely no juice to the egg. Didn’t ask for new as didn’t have another hour to wait and this was when no one else hardly there. I also didn’t like being in our room late afternoon, then going to dinner and coming back to a rose on our bed. If it was done during room service, that would be fine. Once room service is over with, I don’t expect people coming into the room without me asking or knowing. The rose and breakfast menu was nice, but I would have used the safe for some of my medication and jewelry, etc. if I knew people would randomly enter our room late afternoon or evening. I usually just lock it up when I know room service coming. Nothing was stolen, but didn’t expect that. Our stay was nice, but next time we’ll save money and eat in town(better food and much quicker) and stay at a nice chain where it feels updated and more comfortable especially...
Read moreThe Queen's Landing is part of the Vintage Hotel Group in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. Each one has their own personality and each one is spectacular! I think The Queen's Landing has the best location - waterfront, overlooking Lake Ontario and the United States!
On the outside, The Queen's Landing resembles an elegantly large Georgian mansion with its towering columns that flank the portico. This theme continues on the inside with curving grand staircases and the richly mahogany paneled library bar that serves as their informal restaurant as well. There are two cozy fireplaces that you can snuggle up to, also.
Tiara is their five-star rated restaurant that is tiered and offers magnificent views of the lake. For New Year's Eve, there were two seatings and the later included dancing. With no shortage of amazing restaurants to dine at, we opted for another choice, but have done so before and our meals have always been wonderful!
Our room was a deluxe king, which had a lovely fireplace. Since it was a cold, rainy, and windy evening, it was much appreciated. The rooms are "transitional" in their design, combining modern and traditional design elements. Our bath featured a soaking tub and a large shower. There is "turn down" service. An unexpected surprise was a deep pink rose placed on our pillows when we returned from dinner. Both my husband and I found the pillows to be hard and I would expect better choices for a hotel of this caliber. (However, I will admit to being someone who travels with her pillows from home. Normally, my husband never complains.)
After our late lunch in the library, we spent the remainder of our time before getting ready for dinner at the pool and spa. Since my phone was almost out of power, I left it charging in the room. Regretfully, I didn't get any photos of this terrific space. The spa was large enough to accommodate ten people and located in a separate area near the sauna. The pool is large and ranges in depths from three feet at its shallowest point. The temperature was about 85 degrees, which is much warmer than most indoor pools. Plus, this is adjacent to the large workout area. I did find the changing rooms to be tiny with only eight lockers and no showers. Clearly, they wanted you to wear the plush terry robes from your room over your bathing suits. Ironically, this never occurred to us.
Since this was the holiday season, I expected the decor to be magnificent and that did not disappoint. I'm sure my photos don't do them justice. For all the festive decorations, I was expecting a less quiet atmosphere to ring in 2019. We went to the bar at about 11:45 p.m. and they're were only a few couples in there. Although we were reassured that it would soon fill up, we chose to go to our room instead to watch the NYC Ball Drop. Due to the high quality of everything else, I expected an HD TV with crystal clear reception. What we got instead was fuzzy TV beyond belief. If there were "rabbit ears," I would have adjusted them. The selection of channels was incredibly small also!
In spite of a few minor glitches, we look forward to our next return and I still gave them a five-star review. Afterall, nobody's perfect, although they strive their...
Read moreUpdate from below: The front desk manager, Ha, reached out and helped me redeem my gift card and acknowledged my feedback. She was very respectful and courteous which I greatly appreciated. Due to this lovely customer service, I would recommend and stay at Queens Landing again.
I had a gift card to use and I couldn't apply it upon booking so I had to call the reservation line to book a room; it was noted in my account I had a gift card. When I checked in, I mentioned I had a gift card and the person checking us in was so lovely and friendly. She said she sees it in my account and would be used at the end of our stay. I'm sorry I don't remember her name but it began with an S. She gave us some great tips and told us what the hotel had to offer.
We were lucky we were able to check in early as the room was ready and it was nice to freshen up before heading into town. The room was at the end of the hallway so we didn't hear much foot traffic. As well, there were doors that led into the rooms to minimize the noise from the lobby which I greatly appreciated.
Before heading out for the evening, I wanted to take a bath but the plug to the bathtub wasn't working. We were only staying one night so I didn't tell the hotel because we didn't want to wait around for someone to come.
However, coming back to the hotel for the evening, we saw our room door wasn't properly closed. We ALWAYS double check to ensure our door is locked before leaving. It freaked us out a little because anyone could've walked into our room. I went to tell the front desk and the staff member was indifferent which made me a little upset. They said the turn down staff probably didn't close the door properly. We don't know how long our door was like that but it left us feeling uneasy.
Breakfast in the Tiara restaurant was good. It was nice that they had an omelette station, but it would've been nice if it was located where the food section for the buffet was held. And because we were seated close to the omelette station, we left smelling like food. No one likes leaving a restaurant smelling like food. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived for breakfast but the hostess sat us closet to the omelette station while other people were seated in the nicer area.
Upon check out, I had my gift card readily accessible in my bag but in hindsight, I should've had it in my hand because I forgot as soon I was at the front desk. Michael checked me out and was very cordial but did he not see in my account that I had a gift card to use? The whole process was quick and it wasn't until I got home and looked at the invoice in my email that the gift card never got applied. I called the hotel and left a message. I didn't hear back so I followed up with an email and still no response.
For a company that prides themselves on service, it hasn't been a...
