Yogi hostal is located in a quiet street, one of the few in Providencia close to the Constanera. The location is decent, but the facilites are a tad below average. Had there been a welcoming environment this may have may have been easier to overlook. Unfortunately the check-in staff were unbelievably unprofessional, outwardly rude, unhelpful and downright scary. I would not normally leave a review condemning a hostal based on personal interactions, however the check-in lady literally yelled at the guests, at times victimizing them. On another occasion she had a personal meltdown in the middle of the room screaming "it's not my shift"!!!! These are not the type of experiences any traveller deserves while eating dinner or reading quietly, Additionally the same woman refused to provide essential check-in information by any form other that whatsapp (ie; explain in person, phone or email) and when asked, outright refused to provide details on necessary safety features such as how to emergency contact numbers and evacuation. Overall the staff in this hostel not only actively ruin the general peace of the guests, but are beyond unprofessional! One staff member tried to damage control the other but was unable to with the current organization. The hostel itself has little to redeem itself without the help...
Read moreProvidencia neighbourhood is a good location if you prefer more comfort and safety. Streets are wider and often treelined, modern shopping centers and good infrastructure. Clean. Parque Metropolitano is not too far away. The modern style hostel is on a quiet side street. It has good facilities such as the hot showers and a well equipped kitchen. WiFi worked well, though a bit slow in the room and sometimes intermittent. The place is kept clean and well maintained. Staff (including volunteers) is friendly and helpful.||Foreigners are exempt from tax (VAT), but when using a card have to pay it anyway. "You can get it back at the airport." The only alternative is to pay with cash.|Bunk frames are not stable, meaning any turn of a neighbour may wake you up.|Having a reservation does not mean, you have a right to stay! One morning I was told to either pay for a more expensive room or leave! Eventually the issue was solved, but the uncertainty it caused made me book another hostel.||Keep in mind there is no 24/7...
Read moreYogi Hostels is a very organised and clean hostel that is well located in a safe and peaceful neighbourhood, with a minimarket located right next door. The private rooms and dorm rooms are clean and well furbished (I stayed in three different rooms during my stay, I extended my stay more than once). The wifi works very well throughout the establishment, and I got download speeds of up to 400mb/s downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped with all the necessary things. During my stay, there was a very good atmosphere with the other guests, and all seemed respectful, with no one taking my food from the fridge. The best thing about the hostel, is that the staff are very open, very friendly, and very accomodating.
Having stayed in hundreds of hostels and as a hostel owner myself (in Costa Rica), I have a good judgement of the price to value ratio of various accommodations. For me, I think that this must be the best hostel in Santiago, as it does everything very well and at an unbeatable price relative to the...
