I had the incredibly good fortune that the Patagonia outfitter I booked with uses Hotel Martin Gusinde as it is an absolutely wonderful hotel. Forget the previous (and dated) reviews that comment the hotel needs refurbishing as it has been totally renovated in the last couple of years. The new owners of the hotel also own the hotel Lago Grey (5 Star hotel) which is located near the Grey glacier. Clearly, the new owners have instilled the same 5 Star quality at Hotel Martin Gusinde as the hotel is impeccably clean, has fast Internet, wonderful showers, and very comfortable beds. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the superb service provided by the staff. They are friendly, knowledgeable, professional and speak English fluently. Priscilla and Evelyn are exceptional; both make you feel right at home as they are friendly, helpful, and work to accommodate any request you may have. They are dedicated to their craft and exemplify true customer service. The hotel is centrally located within Puerto Natales with the main city square/park being two blocks away from the hotel and the lake/port area is four blocks away. There are myriad shops within a four-block radius from the hotel that provide anything you may need for dining out, souvenirs, outdoor outfitters, tour operators, local crafts with local wool clothing being the highlight, and mini-marts. There are two supermarkets that are 6-8 blocks away from the hotel. Walking in Puerto Natales is totally safe and you can enjoy midnight walks around the square to take in the stars. And I almost forgot to mention the breakfast at Hotel Martin Gusinde. They have two sittings for breakfast, one at 7:00 AM and the other at 8:00 AM. You have a choice of two different breakfast menus that you choose from the night before, one being a traditional meat, cheese and bread and the other more a cereal/vegan type of breakfast. Scrambled eggs are available and made to order. The lady who manages the breakfast area and prepares the breakfast is quite attentive, ensuring you are happy with the meal. She is genuine in her concern that you have everything you need. It was like having my mother doting over me making sure I got enough to eat before going off to school. As you can tell, I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Martin Gusinde with the staff being the absolute high point...
Read moreWe just completed our Patagonia tour and chose Martin Gusinde as the hotel for the Puerto Natales part of the trip. The hotel is clean and simple with warm and comfortable rooms with cable TV, and is located within walking distance of everything in town. The rooms don't have kettles but there is a little minibar area next to the reception with a kettle, and tea, coffee, sandwich services. Breakfast is great! Made-to-order eggs, good coffee and a nice buffet spread. The most outstanding aspect of this hotel is the staff and the customer service. We had a big mishap on the tour we had arranged to Torres del Paine - the tour company failed to pick us up and we had to scramble to find another tour the same day. Martin Gusinde hotel staff helped us through every step of the way to arrange a new tour, including making many phone calls and talking to tour operators on our behalf. Without the help of the hotel staff we would have missed the chance to visit Torres del Paine because we were leaving for Argentina the next day. This kind of excellent customer service is the reason we would stay at this hotel if we return to...
