I did not actually book through Chile Nativo, but was solo hiking the O Trek and was saved by Chile Nativo guides named Ian and Felipe. On day 5 I came down with a stomach virus only 3.5 km into the day’s trail and couldn’t stop vomiting. Many people passed by without doing anything but as soon as the Chile Nativo guides came upon me, they stopped to check on me. Seeing that I was not ok, Ian tried calling the rangers for help but was unable to connect. One guide went on with the group to finish the remaining 7km but Ian and Felipe escorted me in a very long return to the start of the days’ hike, with Ian taking my 30 lb pack ON TOP of his pack which was probably more like 40 lb. I vomited continuously throughout the 3-4 hours it took me to get back to camp - literally probably a dozen times - and each and every time, Ian held my hair back, steadied me with his legs, patted my back, and let me rest while also trying to keep me moving when possible. He made me hot tea and electrolyte mixes, which although I threw up he continued making the effort at each stop I had to take. When we finally got to camp, Ian set up my tent for me, got me two of the camp’s comfy sleeping mats, a pillow, a sheet, and an extra sleeping bag as it was a cold night. He then wrote down every step he took throughout the day for me so I could show a doctor what happened and him and Felipe got me hooked up with rangers and other people who checked on me throughout the night. He literally tucked me into bed and made sure I had everything I needed. He even got me bottles of water. And then this man had to go make the 11km trip to meet with his group, while it was now raining. Every time I tried to apologize, I was met with nothing other than genuine kindness and insistence not to feel bad. These men are my heroes. The professionalism, kindness, empathy, and care they showed - I cry every time I think about what they did for me. While I can’t speak to the entire Chile Nativo experience, I can say that you will be in good hands with this company. I am...
Read moreWe have recently completed the Paine Massive Circuit (known by tourists as the "O" trek) through Chile Nativo who were booked via our UK Travel Agent. We had a guide and were a group of 3 with 1 guide and 2 porters for the 7 day camping trek. Our guide, Mauricio was amazing and we would highly recommend having a guide for the circuit trek. The weather in Patagonia changes very quickly and this challenging route definitely requires people who know what they are doing. For us we ended up doing the John Gardener Pass in 1.5m snow and white outs, we were extremely grateful for having Mauricio and our porters at that point. On top of that, Maurico was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, a perfect pace setter (which is super important for such a long stint of walking), great company, very useful at campsites and refugios (with insider tips and guidance) and we really felt in safe hands at all times. Patagonia is such an amazing and beautiful place buts its also brutal, a real challenge and very very windy!! If you're toying between the full circuit or the W trek then 100% do the full circuit. It's more challenging but you are fully rewarded with quieter trails, more stunning scenary and tranquil campsites and refugios. We had the most amazing time, a lot of that was down to Mauricio (via Chile Nativo) so we would highly recommend these guys. By the way, you don't have to be the most seasoned walker or mountaineer to do this, you just need to love the outdoors, be up for a physical and mental challenge and most importantly be fully equipped with...
Read moreI did the guided Big Paine trek with Chile Nativo in November 2024, it was the best hiking experience I ever had!
The agency is really helpful and assists you with any inquiry or advices you might need. They offer different circuits which are all well detailed on their websites. They gently recommended other agencies and shops in other parts of Patagonia for the rest of my trip as well, I really appreciated this!
Torres del Paine was an amazing discovery for me, I initially came to visit the famous towers but ended up discovering so much more along the way. At times I could look in any directions and be stunned by the majesty of all the nature around me.
Our guide, Catalina, was exceptional, she shared her knowledge and passion for Patagonia, the park and nature with a contagious joy and energy. She showed us along the way many animals, plants, mountains and much more and taught us about them and their relationship to the park and the region. She went out of her way each day and each night at each camp to accommodate to our group and make our experience amazing!
Chile Nativo also handled the reservation at each camp, we had the tents ready with sleeping bags and mats when we arrived, food was included at every refuge as well and was quite good! We also took the porter option, the team was very nice and efficient, our dry bags we’d always ready for us at the camp and the porters always prepared some surprise for us when we arrived.
Thank you to all the team for that amazing experience! I hope I’ll have an other occasion to visit...
