THEY DON’T SERVE BY QUANTITY?! We had dinner here with friends last night and went back for dinner again today because we wanted to try the “scallops three way”. When it came there were 5 small scallops in each row, much different from the ones our friends had last night and from the ones shown in google maps pictures. I asked the senior guy who served us, and he explained that they cook small or big ones by random whatever they have. All small just like half the normal sizes? I can see from Google that they added more numbers if the scallops are smaller. But I did not want to argue, just tried to relax after a whole day hiking. A few minutes later, the guy came back to me and lectured: “We don’t serve by quantity”. I was astonished that he wanted to go further that way but too tired to argue. At the end, another waiter handed the bill to me with a tip added in. I told him to remove the tip-well if you don’t serve by quantity, then I certainly wouldn’t have to pay tip by default, especially in a place where tipping isn’t that common. To be fair, their food taste excellent although the price is at the higher end here. I can get a sense of arrogance from the...
Read moreThey don't take reservations and have less than 28 sets on the restaurant We ordered full king crab (centolla). 2023 price was 90K peso, but after some months they make it whooping 140K. -Waiters doesn't have any uniform and look like bunch of lazy teenagers/tourists. For this level of restaurant this not acceptable. -the don't have paper meny only qr codes which is weird. When we asked for tablet the gave just one! Again for greasy cafe it ok, but not for number 2 sea restaurant in natales. -Bread served for aperitif was too dry. -Waiters didn't offer any sources for full crab. And when we have received crab we found tiny mayonnaise and oil cups near it. Centolla team seriously? -We know how to eat crab. But waiters don't even ask us about it. -Restaurant have small tables and we didn't have space to put tons of shell from the crab. Only after 30 minutes waiters, gave us additional plate. Restaurant doesn't have any desserts.
Overall Centolla became to arrogant and enjoy being first seafood rest in Natales. Food is good, but rest is below any standards. Agafonia has full crab for 100k peso(with sauces) and much more...
Read moreHands down, the best meal I had in Puerto Natales and one of the best I had during my visit to Chile last October.
First, let's talk about the decor and vibe. The restaurant is made up of containers (yes, like ship containers) and the decor is cool and hip while maintaining a casual friendliness. I'll admit the entrance (on the left side was hard to find), but a young boy called us over!
My friend started with the spicy tomato soup (she loved it), and I had a salad (the dressing was so delicious and, frankly, after lots of empanadas, breads and meat, the freshness was such a welcome treat!
She had a tortilla (Spanish omelette) for her main (again, meated out at this point) and I had the BEST dish I had in all of Chile - the seabass steamed in parchment with vegetables. So light and flavorful and cooked perfectly. I wondered if I would regret not getting crab as this is the bug draw here, but after a taste of the fish, no regrets at all!
Service was lovely and efficient (it was busy). The only con I would give it is that it is a bit cramped, but I guess there are just so many tables that fit in a...
