You can find a number of hostels inside Mirador mansion. The building itself may not be for everyone since it’s dirty and very old but it’s conveniently located within TST area so if you’re on a budget and can overlook the not-so-good condition of the building, staying at any of the hostels in Mirador Mansion will work for you. ||We do not want to splurge on accomodation along TST (we booked another hotel in Mong Kong area during our trip) since we will be out most of the time so we chose to look for the cheapest accomodation that we could find. We booked Lily Garden Guest House via Agoda. I should say that setting your expectation lower than normal will help a lot if you do not want to be upset and ruin your vacation. ||Cons:|1. Mirador mansion is an old, rundown building. We were instructed to go to 3rd floor to check in (the actual flat which the owner divided into a number of units is on the 5th floor). It was unbelievably dirty. Garbage greeted us on our way to the reception flat.||2. The towels given to us were so old. It’s a good idea to bring your own.||3. They do not replace the bedsheet. Bring your own blanket. ||4. There were several cockroaches.||5. Water spills out of the tiny bathroom and on the floor whenever someone showers. ||6. On the day of our checkout, i saw that they billed us more than what we were supposed to pay. We called their attention but they couldn’t give any explanation and said that it’s Agoda who billed us, not them. Which is super weird. This is the main reason why I gave them this rating. We will never trust them again with our credit card. ||Pros:|1. Perfect location when you’re in TST area.|2. Tiny room but they clean it everyday. |3. Drinking water (hot and cold), a landline telephone, a small fridge and a hairdryer are accessible for all guests, free of charge. |4. The flat has security lock.|5. Cheap but watch out as they may bill you more than what you’re suppose to pay, just like what happened to us.||We may book a room again with them but only if we have no...
Read moreThe guest house is strategically located in the heart of TST, just a few steps away from the subway and shopping malls (iSquare). You will ocassionally encounter Africans and Indians around but they are harmless. The room we got, which was located in the 5th floor, room 305, was a twin room, but eventually we asked for a room change because of the clogged drain in the bathroom , which stank the entire room for the entire stay. It was unbearable, And the whole room smelled like a septic tank. Good thing they upgraded us to a triple room for just us 2. Room 303 has a window facing the Nathan road, had bigger space to roam around and has a bigger bathroom. No more clogging this time but i have noticed that whenever we get out of the room, the housekeeper would turn off aircon and the lights, thus small cockroaches would go out. Good thing they dont come at nigt when we sleep and They disappear though when the room is cold. Good thing about this guest house is that they change our towels everyday for free, takes out the trash as well, refill the soap and shampoo dispenser, but they dont change the sheets, nor sweep the floor and clean the bathroom whenever they do room cleaning. They also provide free cold and hot water so it's a plus for backpackers who want to save little quids on drinking water. Overall, our stay was pleasant, except for the hassle of our first room and the small cockroaches coming out when the conditions are good for them, other than that i recommend this place as it is cheap and very near to the subway, city attractions, food place and bus route a21 and n21 (no worries missing out your flight even in the wee hours of the morning). I also commend the housekeepers, ate Marlyn and ate Rose as they were very helpful...
Read moreWhen we went to Lily Garden Guest House, we did not have high expectations. It was a low-cost option on Kowloon for a quick two-night stay in Hong Kong. However, there were roaches in our bed in a windowless room that looked nothing like was advertised. When we requested a room change, the room we were given had a leaky air conditioner (directly onto the bed), recent urine splashed all over the toilet seat and muddy footprints on the floor. When we complained, the manager told us we could leave, and refused the refund we requested through Expedia. We never received a refund despite repeated requests from both the site and the guest house. ||||There are many low-budget options in the same area as Lily Garden. Save yourself the trouble and...
