Definitely THE worst restaurant I've ever tried in HK (and possibly anywhere else).
We tried this restaurant on 16 Dec 2023 and there was barely anyone else at the restaurant with only one family who left shortly after we arrived (as you can see in the video).
Even though the restaurant was almost empty, it took so long for them to take our order. We had to waive a few times and the waiter just ignored us while obviously noticing us. After we could finally order, it took 40 minutes to prepare the food. They also didn't give us forks and after 2-3 times that we asked for it and they ignored us, my friend had to go to the kitchen himself and get the forks.
After we finally got the food, we were extremely surprised as the food portions were extremely smaller than the pictures on the menu. For example, they have a mix BBQ plate that looks like it's easily enough for 2-3 people based on the menu, but in fact it was just a few chicken WINGS and some small pieces of meat (barely enough for one person). And the prices are a bit too high even for the portions shown on the menu. The foods I tried were Ozi lamb and three pieces of kebab. The lamb was supposed to be so big based on the menu when it was actually mostly bones and the meat didn't taste good at all. The kebabs were also very small (with an extremely high price of 98$ for three kebabs) and were too tough and didn't taste good either. After 40 minutes that we finally got the food, we realized that there is no bread, so we ordered two breads and we got them after 5 minutes. Then, we noticed that the breads are too small so we ordered one more bread. Then, it took around 30 minutes to prepare only one bread and my friend had to go to the kitchen again to remind them. When we got the last bread, we had already eaten most of the food and the rest of it was completely cold and not edible.
As for the atmosphere of the restaurant, there is usually a shisha smell (which I knew before going there and was ok with it), but we also saw a cockroach walking ON our table right next to the food (literally a few centimeters away from the bread, and I had to kill it fast before it got to the bread!).
AND, the most rediculous thing is that this restaurant actually has 10% service charge!!!
Basically, we spent 1.5 hours at the restaurant, spent an average of 162$ per person, and got out still hungry!! This was without a doubt my worst restaurant experience in HK and I definitely don't recommend...
Read moreI stumbled upon Ziafat Restaurant on Google Maps while in search of halal food options, and I'm thrilled I did. My hunger led me straight to their doorstep on the 6th floor of the Harilela Mansion building, and what a fantastic decision it was.
I started with their freshly baked bread, served piping hot. The bread's freshness and warmth made it an excellent beginning to my meal. Then came the hummus, a true delight. It boasted a flavorful profile with a creamy and smooth texture that was simply exceptional.
For my main course, I opted for the chicken shish, and it exceeded my expectations. The spices were masterfully marinated into the chicken, resulting in a juicy and tender dish that was a true culinary delight.
This visit to Ziafat Restaurant was particularly special because I hadn't eaten anything the entire day. The food not only satisfied my hunger but also brought immense happiness with each bite.
If you're seeking a halal dining experience that combines quality, flavor, and satisfaction, Ziafat Restaurant is the place to be. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and...
Read moreThe best and most authentic halal food we had in a long long time, I think the photos speak for themselves. The mandi is amazing with juicily tender lamb. The falafel and humus are great. The kebab is good too, the chicken ones are a bit dry but the lamb and beef ones are to die for. The food are also far from expensive given the portion. The owner Abdu is awesome, friendly, honest, and even inspiring. Due to the protest and covid in HK, there are no visitors to the city. The once 10-men staffed restaurant now falls on the shoulder of Abdu alone. He has to take care of everything from reception to service to cooking. Although we waited for 40 mins for our food, but when he brought out the dishes with dripping sweat, we had nothing but respect for this Egyptian young man. I seldom write reviews but Ziafat deserves one. Will definitely go...
