We had such a great experience here! We were on holiday early June and wanted to check out the ‘new’ temple street. We weren’t impressed with what was on offer with the main temple street area and decided to go for a walk to see what else was on offer and check out places we could stop for dinner. When we got to this place it was vibing! The guy working there was so on the ball and got us a table straight away, we didn’t mind sitting outside. What added to the vibe was the noise of the gas from the wok and the cooking noises coming from inside the kitchen. It’s so casual there but the service was soo attentive and quick! The food was delicious! The ‘wok hei’ was so damn good on the dishes! Everything was so fresh, so hot, so tasty and they arrived so quick to the table, one after another. None of that waiting between dishes and everything gets cold. The portions were also large and very easy to share. There was also so much we wanted to order on the menu, but for the 3 of us, we ordered 4 dishes and 1 rice. Read moreMy personal experience is completely different from the general consensus of Google reviews which is a shame as I prefer to leave positive reviews.
The general place is normal considering it's an outdoor eatery of HK. Cleanliness is minimal, toilets are located in a back alley which has no toilet paper, two squatting holes and a massive tub of water from an unknown source.
This will be the flushing mechanism for the toilet and an opportunity to wash your hands.
The food is beyond poor. After two bites I couldn't bring myself to eat more. I would love to drink more beer to allow the alcohol to numb my senses and dumb my taste but the thought of going to the mentioned toilet facilities.... It prompted us to pay the bill and look for another place to eat.
Overall..... An experience...
Read moreThis Dai Pai Dong is famous for their Beef Satay Soup Based Hotpot. We didn’t order it as some of us don’t take beef. Therefore we ordered other dishes. Deep fried calamari, salad pork ribs, steamed scallops, oyster omelette, steamed white eel, and stir fried garlic ginger hk choy sum.
The deep fried calamari was fresh. The salad pork ribs was nice at the first bite but getting overwhelmed with too much salad sauce. The steamed white eel taste like patin fish but with more tiny fish bones. The steamed scallops was nice but too salted when eating the glass noodles. The oyster omelette was not bad and portion was big.
The price was reasonable. The atmosphere was ok and good to experience the HK culture. The staff were patient and will not rush you for...
